I was checking out some small sheets of hydro-dip (also called water transfer film) film on ebay, thinking those would be a cool way to "paint" rc's. I'm thinking of giving it a try on my Wraith first since the relatively flat panels seem like they'd be harder to mess up!

If you're steady with the dremel, an "engine turned" finish always looks cool on aluminum panels, I've never seen it done in a scaled down manner, you could be the first! Otherwise, a scotch-brite pad keeps panels looking smooth and consistent.

Default Wraith based Rock Bouncer

I’ll add a quick idea here.... peel and stick Paint!
I did my OPIE’s stinger and rails, held up well, I just did a battery cover on Skrappy in Carbon Black
Lots of great color choices.

Wow - that finish looks sweet Mike. I went ahead and ordered some vinyl. Like you said, if I don't like it, I can peel it. I did a Winter Camo pattern. Thought it would compliment the rig real well.

Of course, there's always this too!

Woody wagon bouncer? Lol. Another option, which probably won't fit the build right, is to polish the panels. You would have to powder coat a clear over it. It'll shine like a mirror. I did it to a couple trials bikes years ago. Took some major abuse and never lost the shine.

I personally think a digital camo that has open or "clear" spaces to allow the aluminum to show through the pattern would be the t*ts...

One of those hydrographics options mentions "clear" as a color component of one of their urban camo patterns:

I made a few with woodland digicamo the other day. Some of it isn’t that expensive.

I don’t which is cooler, the Yeti or Felix.

Anyone looking for alternative skins - there's a company that makes 3M-supplied skins for electronic device called "dbrand":

https://dbrand.com/

For ages I've had a concrete finish set of skins for my Pixel XL that I never installed because I keep thinking I'd rather trim the sheets into something I might use on my Bomber build...

They make a few colors that are super unique (Red or Black Dragon, looks like cracked lava), and what's interesting to me is that some of them have texture, such as the concrete I purchased.

They make brushed metal style (in copper, gold, titanium, black), and carbon fiber style in multiple colors, among other finishes.

I'm thinking i might order other skins from them in the future, and even though they don't sell plain sheets - only precut skins for devices, just pick a device that is relatively large and the sheets you'd get should be useful.

For example, I got a smartphone skin - but I could have ordered a skin for a Sony PlayStation or a laptop and got much larger pieces...

A picture of the concrete skin, trying to show the texture:

The 4100kv Puller Pro showed up today and I popped her in. Well, to be honest, it wasn't quite as easy as that. I had to clearance the Right Rear link mount a bit, and then she popped right in. Now, I just have to solder the leads a bit longer based on my ESC location. Gett'n close to lighting this bad boy up!

I like to think of the Holmes brushless lineup as follows:

PULLER PRO R 540-L 4100kv - Cammer V8

PULLER PRO BL 540 XL - Big Block V8

PULLER PRO BL 540 STANDARD - Small Block V8

PULLER PRO BL 540 STUBBY - Grand National Turbo V6

REVOLVER 540 - Diesel V8

REVOLVER SNUBNOSE 540 - Diesel V6

I dunno about that, my 540 standard is just as nasty as my larger big Tekin 4x4HD.....
The standard is a mild cammed blown LS

Well, I'll be able to compare it to my PP3500kv and my PP3300kv Stubby. Something tells me it's going to be a bit of a monster.

Admittedly, I have already resigned myself to broken parts. That, and the rig is actually fairly light for it's size. Lighter than my Wraith actually. Right now I'm running a 57T metal spur with LockedupRC slipper eliminator and all metal gear trans, Incision diff lockers, etc. I'm almost thinking I should throw a derlin spur on her to at least have a low cost, easily replaced failure point!

Might I suggest a SuperShafty style trans running the RobinsonRacing / Traxxas style slipper on the beefy top shaft. I’ve had it save me with extreme bite under a rock, when it binds, I heard it first, backed out, worth it !

Hell, a small-block can be built to be one serious powerhouse - none of my tongue-in-cheek metaphorical comparisons were to stock 1:1 motors!

The new brushed Holmes motors look to be a viable option. For the brushed crowd at least.
