1.9 Wraith info and build thread

I'm new to the Wraith, I've had a number of SCX10s, a couple TF2s and currently have a TRX4. I just picked up a used rtr Wraith and would like to convert it to a 1.9 fun rig, I'd like to do a cms with scx10.2 axles, anybody use the new axles yet? Any tips would be appreciated, I'm a total newb to the Wraith so all tips will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Update, instead of starting a new thread I'll just add to this one. I wanna thank everyone so far for all your help and info.

1.9 Wraith info

No advice on the 1.9 wheels or new axles. I can say a wraith will perform much better by relocating the battery and esc to the front. I turned my battery tray sideways and bolted it in like a “firewall”. The esc is in front of that and I moved the receiver box the the rear cargo area.

Sorry I don’t have any pics. This is a common mod and should be easy to find reference pictures.

Also I recently bought some Gmade Komodo axles for around $15 a piece from dollarhobbyz_2 on eBay. They also have a website. I plan on assembly tonight so I can’t comment on their performance compared to the new axial axles. But they are very solid.

Re: 1.9 Wraith info

Thanks for info, mine has all electronics and battery in the front already, and the hood is hinged for access. Let me know how those axles work out, i think I'm still gonna go with the narrower scx axles though.

Mattzilla comes to mind with the 1.9 Wraiths, but beyond that I dont know anything.

On the subject of axles have a look a SSD's complete Pro44 axles they're a damn good deal though they've yet to release the price of the front axle which was just released or shown today http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...ront-axle.html

Re: 1.9 Wraith info

I used the 10.2 Currie axles for my 1.9, however I used a Ridgecrest skid and a TSS chassis rail kit. I ended up using an STRC Wraith CMS mount, someone in my thread had a good idea to simply mount it to the chassis tubes so the servo sat upright like a traditional CMS instead of the odd standard setup which theoretically causes some bump steer. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/1-9-s...-9-wraith.html

Yes, been a year now on 10.2 axles. Using STRC mount for panhard and CMS mount. Don't have any real noticeable bump steer but don't quite get all the steering that 10.2 axles are capable of. I would like to fab up a mount that positions the servo along the frame rail like a 10.2, but for now it works fine.

Thanks a bunch, got a lot of great ideas from your build thread, quick question though, will the stock interior still work with that setup?

Thanks man, you happen to have a better pic your cms setup?

If you’re doing a 1.9 Wraith, search TFL SCX10 axles on Ebay. Awesome quality and good pricing. TFL is offshore, but their stuff is not the typical junk you see. I used a set of these axles on my Barrage build and they’ve been awesome.

Here are my link lengths, give or take as I did the best I could without a set of calipers. I am also using the STRC Wraith CMS mount.
WB is 12.7

Panhard bar is 98mm and my drag link is ~95mm.

Front lowers are 109.5mm and front upper is 99mm.

Rear lowers are 118.5mm and rear uppers are 110mm.

Good enough to get you a starting point for your 1..9 Wraith build. Hope that helps.

Re: 1.9 Wraith info

When building a 1.9 wraith the key is getting the wheel base shortened up so the wheels are close to matching up with the fenders on the body other wise it looks kinda funny stretched out and narrowed width.

One of these days I'm going to start building mine. Gonna make links from all thread just to get it mocked up then have custom titanium links made from Vanquish. Also I believe the front driveshaft needs to be super short ounce you shorten the wheel base. Unfortunately nobody makes a driveshaft for this (at least not that I know of) I was thinking of shortening up a MIP. Good luck and post pics if and when your build starts.

I'm definitely building it, I wanted to build one four years ago when I got out of the hobby so I'm still pretty interested in building one, keep the ideas and tips coming, I"m really appreciating it. "thumbsup"

I run an MIP built with off the shelf parts up front with no issues. Honestly the only time you have issues with driveshaft length is when you go 12" and less on the wheelbase and even then, something like a Wildboar HD can easily be made to fit."thumbsup" Thankfully these aren't 10" WB SWB builds.:lmao:

This is what I'm starting with, got it ready for my brother for tomorrow, moved all electronics to the front this morning. I've got lots I wanna do with it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d60645a915.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...90c8577237.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f04dd5a0df.jpg

Re: 1.9 Wraith info

Agreed that shortening the WB is a must, I believe I took about an inch out of mine front and rear. Used an STRC chassis servo mount and one of the holes on top of the axle for the panhard (V1 axles). The rest of it just kinda falls into place once you sort out the links.

Not the greatest pics, but you get the idea

Thanks for the info, in my opinion they just look so much better as a 1.9 rig, yours looks bad ass!

Are these dimensions eye to eye?
