It looks this could have been so much better with just small changes, like a higher turn motor, and maybe some longer shocks.
That's exactly where I'm at, but then again, I just don't understand the 1.9 Wraith thing anyway. Just buy a deadbolt.

A smaller scale rock racer is nice, I’m personally would like a 1.9 Bomber, but not if they make it drive the same as this

I still have my old school spare parts 1.9 Wraith with tubed SCX10 axles and Super Swampers, needs a battery tray and to mount a esc, either a MMP or Hobby Wing brushed esc, not in a hurry to get it rolling again

Pretty sure they are.

The plastic links are the same part # as the ones from the Honcho and a rough measurement I took was the same on both trucks.

svt923 and I did a pretty thorough live Q&A covering differences between the 1.9 RTR, Spawn RTR, his custom 1.9 and my custom 2.2:
https://www.facebook.com/BowHouseRC/...0017720068118/

We followed it up with some side-by-side-by-side-by-side comparison testing (or recklessness, lol). Here’s the first video with rock racing footage:
https://youtu.be/Be13_-RcQX0

We both agreed that the 1.9 RTR was an absolute blast as a hybrid rock racer and crawler. It’s competent, durable, and more than held its own through a wide variety of terrain. It’s obviously not going to be quite as stable rock racing at speed as a wider track truck would be, nor would it be able to crawl over the same lines as a 2.2 Wraith over large obstacles. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have lots of fun bombing it across the rocks (as we did). And when crawling, the narrow track and shorter wheelbase can give it advantages over a 2.2 in tight quarters.

As for doing a custom build vs starting with the RTR (we’ve heard a kit version is coming later this year), that’s going to come down to personal preference. If you have at least some of the parts lying around, the custom route probably makes more sense. But for many people, the 1.9 RTR (or subsequent kit) will be a good starting point. I also expect that it will bring some new people into the scale scene, just as the TRX-4 and Gen8 have done. And that’s always a good thing.

Bottom line: I wasn’t expecting to like it so much. But after spending a couple of days with a demo, I’ll be picking mine up at the LHS as soon as I get back from vacation. “thumbsup”

The front links are the same as a Honcho, but the rears are Deadbolt length. I started upgrading mine a couple of nights ago, using the full Incision SCX10 II 12.3” steel link kit, but had to use the SSD 305mm WB Conversion for SCX10 II link kit to replace the rears.

It certainly feels better in the hand, so to speak. I took it on one initial 1-2 hour run, the evening after I brought it home, just for the RTR experience, but the plastic has to go. I'm looking forward to getting the front end done, now.

Oh I love that black and am so glad I went with it, can't wait for it to get here and I can check it out.
Interesting it needs links from 2 different models. I'm glad I held off on ordering some till I had in my hand.

the link part confuses me as in the manual it shows the same part number for the scx10 2 as it does for the wraith 1.9.

What a shame...

I would definitely contact Axial about a replacement, that is unexpected!
