To additionally clarify, shock angle isn't a setting that's right, wrong, best or worst, as Duuuuuuuude says it's a tuning tool, My half baked learning says the more angled from the travel path of the axle through the suspension cycle the softer the effective spring rate. If spring A is too soft & spring B too heavy with the shock stood perpendicular to travel, laying the shock over with spring B can tune out some of it's rate. May then go to being too soft but that's sometimes how it goes. The other thing that can be achieved is where the shock is angled to travel at the start at full extension giving a softer rate but at a point through the travel the change in angles brings the shock closer to perp to the travel, bringing the full rate of the spring back on to try limit bottoming out the shock. (think of IFS on buggys & shock position versus arm swing) This however is not a limitless adjustment, at some point the shock will be so laid down as to do virtually nothing other than rotate around it's mount. |

Softer, and progressively so as the suspension compresses. Quote:

Edit; tinkered with a drawing I wouldn't go so far as to call it proof but it did work as I pictured in my head, though not as entirely feasibly as I imagined & it's dubious as to whether it would achieve what I thought it would. Based around basic SCX10 style geometry using a 90mm shock with 25mm travel it can be seen where the shock is lees than perp to the lower link & arc of travel at full extension but as it reaches full compression the shock is now perp to the link & travel. Now I'll quickly agree it's highly dubious that the 10deg incline of the shock at full extension does anything to change the spring rate noticeably. Has turned out to be more of a thought exercise than anything truly practical. |

Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Can’t wait for those link risers, I imagine they will make quite a difference! |

Tuning out torque twist and increasing capability is a method with several steps. Adjusting your links is one of those steps. |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Ah! Fair enough! On my old wraith / bomber when I switched to the link risers, it made a noticeable difference. It was quite modified already at that point, so that makes sense. |

Re: Wraith 1.9.2 I’m definitely looking for anything to keep the front end of this new truck closer to the rock. I’ll keep trying to tune everything better, too! |

Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Minor update: it's either been rainy or I've been busy with other things, but I have managed to whip up some new links. Hopefully this weekend will be nice and I'll actually get to put some wheel time in. And with any luck I'll get to do a full reveal on the part I've been working on. 8) |

Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Nice work man. Keep going ! |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 skipping WOW and going straight to WOWZERS!!!! annnd I hope it's different. Is a red star equal to or higher than a vendor star? If so that explains it and disregard my previous tongue in cheek comment. ;) |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Red star = moderator. Vendor privileges are a job perk. |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 So these link risers will need shorter upper links than the stock? |

Re: Wraith 1.9.2 And now I can finally put my stupid truck back together. For a while anyway... http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/chass...k-tweaker.html |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 A few days ago I pulled the Crawler Innovations foams out of the Rock Beasts so I could give them a good scrubbing. One of these things is not like the others. Looks like I'll be breaking down the set on my OG Wraith to find it's mate. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4550-66921.jpg |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Lol. Got a stray in that pack. |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Indeed. Pulled the other set apart last night and they are all the same. I'm not sure how that oddball got in there. :ror: |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 I never did figure out where that rogue foam came from, so I took the best of the bunch and remounted the Rock Beasts. They weren't meant for this rig, but they might end up staying. Also, rainy day paint job. All of the paint on hand is several years old, and the majority wouldn't come out of their respective cans. These are the colors that worked (mostly). Strategic sticker placement covers the bleeds and screwups. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4550-66943.jpg |

Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Retro yet race-worthy graphics! Looks killer! |
Re: Wraith 1.9.2 Lol I have a bunch of tamiya ps paint from like 11 years ago... Might be time to chuck em. Paint job looks AWESOME! Very nicely done, suits the body perfectly! |
