Axial Wraith or Poison Spyder

I am about to buy a used Wraith and have two option.

Option one:
Original Wraith with the Black and Green panels. Equipped with a Novak Ballistic 13,5T motor and Eiger ESC (brushless setup) It has metal gear and MIP driveshafts. Price 250 USD

Option two:
Posion Spyder Wraith with China ESC and a Novak Rock Star 35T motor (brushed setup) Price 150 USD

I will use this Wraith as a base for a rock bouncer build and will mainly use it for slow crawling.

Which one do you think I should go for?

If they are in the same condition get the cheaper one. Buy a hobbywing 1080 and a crawlmaster 550 motor. You probably want a servo upgrade too but you didn't list them, the ds3218 is a good deal. 80t 48p spur and a 10t 48p pinion. All that should be about $100.

Neither esc you listed sounds great to me. Nor is the 13.5t novac motor good for slow speeds. The mip drive shafts are good but so are the stock plastic ones imo.

Might take some effort to get a 550 motor to fit but it's worth the effort.

The original RTR Wraith came with working head and tail lights which are pretty cool the Poison Spider does not have lights. Also the MIP driveshafts and metal gears is a plus along with the brushless motor which are great for slow crawling.

Both are great for the price. Flip a coin!

That Novak will be useless for slow crawling, rock racer maybe.
Go for the brushed if that's what your planing on doing, you can always swap motors later.

Also the Eiger ESC is as far as I can tell is a brushed only ESC from 2011, so make sure you know what you're getting. Only very recent and specific brushless motors are good for crawling. Earlier Brushless motors have a rough startup and aren't great at going slow. I don't believe Novak ever made one. They had the Crusher, but it isn't smooth as far as I can see compared to today's standards.

Thats hooey, modern brushless motors may be better, but doesn't mean they're not good for crawling.
Novak's Goat systems and Outrunners have been used for quite some time and work fine for crawling.
May be due to gearing tho, if it's higher than days past.
But he doesn't need to have the latest everything to have fun, or even compete.

Either of these motors would be a great addition to your truck at a low price point.

That's nice but we're not talking about those systems since neither wraith have them installed.

Also they still have more cogging then I find acceptable, so I would not recommend them. Obviously these are just opinions and they depend on your standards.
