Default Gears and motor questions

I have the Wraith Spawn and the motor and gears are all stock still. I made it to 4ws and have up graded links/steering and vp beadlocks and 110mm shocks.

My goal is for it to be straight crawler and looking for a new motor and gears to buy now. I found a Puller Pro v2 Stubby 3300kv motor and have seen good reviews on it and wondering if I should pull the trigger on that motor.

And im lost on gears not sure how I should go with them yet so any input I would love.

The stubby will work, but it's just a tad low on torque for the Wraith IMO, low speed response feels a little "spongey", or a bit like a rubber band building up energy then leaping. I ran a 2700kv stubby in mine for quite a while, but it's back to a standard size 1800kv Revolver until I eventually buy a Puller Pro (standard size) 3500kv. If you're buying new, I'd suggest going directly to a standard size Puller Pro in 2200-3500kv depending on your intended battery voltage.

For a dedicated crawler, don't even mess around... go straight to a 9t pinion and 60t spur. If everything (other than what you listed) is completely stock, get ready to break out the credit card to start beefing up everything in the drivetrain so it can handle brushless power. Metal trans gears and universal jointed axle shafts would be my bare minimum recommendation.

I second that a 3300+kv is a bit much for a crawler. You'll likely be happier with something below 2700kv.

I second the suggestion for 9/60 gearing for a crawler. Can't beat low gearing for getting your creep on.

The 9/60 gearing, what spur gear are you using, and are you using a slipper clutch?

I'm using this one: https://store.rc4wd.com/60t-Delrin-S...on_p_2478.html with no slipper clutch. I think the spurs meant for the Yeti/Bomber work for the Wraith Spawn hex style clutch discs?
