| 32P spur for a Wraith?
Hi, Okay, this has been covered many times (I've read a LOT of posts) but the solutions all seem to reference parts that are very hard to come by (at least in the UK) or more elaborate solutions that I'd ideally like to take on. I have just bought a used Wraith. It comes with the original 48P 80T spur gear and single slipper clutch. I'm planning to try a HW AXE550 3300KV motor and so am a bit worried about the durability of the spur (and, yes, all the rest of the plastic gears). So, I'd like to have a 32P spur waiting in the wings... I've read about the Duratrax 56T option and the Kimbrough 54T but neither of these seem to be available in the UK. I could change thew whole thing over to the Wraith Spawn/Bomber dual slipper clutch and spur assembly but I'd rather avoid the extra complexity/expense if possible. So, that all leads me to the question. If I want to replace only the spur gear (keeping original single slipper clutch etc) are there any commonly available 'drop in' spur gears aside from the Duratrax and Kimbrough options mentioned above? I've read about Traxxas parts being a possible fit but I've not been able to figure out if they require additional modifications/parts. Thanks. Last edited by Cuiken; 05-11-2021 at 02:41 AM. |

um yes so many options in my opinion you should look at scx10 or ax10 spur gears the stock axial gear will work for both types of slippers the holes are there but might need some cleaning out but there there also has the pad holder for the clutch to run dual sliper pads heres one i found on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/292840678148 and hot racing makes a few for it https://www.ebay.com/itm/152716520552 gpm makes one too its also the universal single or dual clutch style https://www.ebay.com/itm/381874104227 the traxxass slash spur is 54 tooth and im not sure it will fit.but looks like it will i can.check later this week i probably wo t get to it today but i have one laying around and im planing a slipper eliminator mod on one of my rigs that uses the single sliper |

Thanks! I may have been overcomplicating this. Looking at the first link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/292840678148 I'd seen the hexagon outline in the spur and assumed that meant it could only be used with the dual slipper clutch. Thinking about it, as long as it can be bolted to the single sided slipper plate, it should be fine. Does that sound right? |

The Vanquish/Incision 56T spur (IRC00402) that fits the VS4-10 and their slipper eliminator for Axial products also fits the stock early style slipper clutch. I highly recommend their slipper eliminator also if you can get ahold of one.

Kimbrough spur gears intended to fit an Associated nitro TC3 fit the early style single pad slipper perfectly.

Cursed Wraith!! The new 56T spur from Axial (AX31027) does not actually fit. Or, at least, it requires some serious modding to fit properly. The centre hole is too large so you can't accurately centre it on the clutch input plate. Instead you need to drill the three holes with a level of accuracy that is beyond me (even with my pillar drill). The upshot was that the spur rotates ever so slightly off centre and you get inconsitent meshing. Additionally, the raised 'burr' on either side of the sput needs to be ground off so that the spur makes proper contact with the slipper plate. Your milage may vary but it's definitely not a drop in replacement. I was not able to make it work. |

You could have used a bearing? Something like 5x4x11 i thinks, to center it. It should have came with a plastic piece to fill that void. Doesn't it have the 3 holes marked out on it anyway? I run the kimborough 60t on one, and an armma 62 on another, and have installed other brands aswell. Some are easy to mount, some require some thinking and figuring.
