| Tekin redline13.5t/MMP combo equivalent?
I have been out of the RC world for a while. My last Wraith I had a Tekin Redline 13.5t and Castle MMP ESC. I loved that set up. Worked great for crawling and bashing/rock racing. I am wondering what combo these days is equivalent. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I am thinking of going with the Tekin ROC 3100kv and the Spektrum 150amp esc. Seeing the versatility of the Spektrum ESC and the 13.5t tekin redline is close to the same kvs. Or would the 2300kv be better. I am looking for speed but still have decent crawling. Any thoughts?

My wraith ran a mamba with 2850kv castle sensored motor on 4s with a 9t motor pinion. Crawled super smooth with plenty of speed to bash around. I'd say perfect for "the best of both worlds". Now it has a 70mm 2400kv motor with 11t pinion, and it's even smoother and entirely overpowered. That motor takes some modifications to get it to fit, though. I'd go with the lower kv motor because there's more room to gear up than to gear down in these things. |

3100kV ROC412 is the way. My bomber runs a 3 gear wraith trans with 20/54 gearing and its plenty fast and still has enough low end to crawl very well.

Skip the spectrum esc, the Castle Mamba x offers more programmability and versatility for similar money. The combos with either the 2250 or 2850kv slate motors are a pretty good deal. Otherwise a Holmes puller pro 2200 or 2700kv offers a bit better creep with even more torque than the slate offerings at a modest cost increase. What's kinda funny is I still have a wraith with an MMP and redline gen1 10.5 in it. Been good to me for almost 6 years now. |

I am thinking of the ROC because of the element proofing. Reviews look really good as well. Just curious on the right kv. I know I will have to experiment on gearing. meatmonkey- yeah I had my last wraith about 7/8 years ago and loved my set up. I had it in storage while away on a deployment and someone broke in and stole it. That's about when I got out of RC stuff. Until now. Went back to the wraith because of the fun I had with it and fun I had building it. |

I think I made my mind up, mostly. haha I will be going with the Castle Mamba Max and the Holmes Puller Pro 2700kv. Just haven't decided on the Puller Pro R or the standard. I will be staring with a 58t spur and a 13t pinion and go from there. I was also wondering about how the puller pro does in the elements? I live in Minnesota and like to get out in the snow. Any one have an opinion? |
