Well as the title states I made an impulse purchase while shopping for parts for my Ryft kit that I will be soon building. So now my Ryft budget is slightly in the hole. I have always liked how the 1.9 wraith looks but have been steared clear by its seeming lack of positive reviews. Well this one happened to be on ebay new sealed in box and the bids were very low so I tossed out a bid and won for 266 shipped. At that price it's worth a shot at seeing what I can do with it. Plans HW 1080 swap possibly since I keep those on hand. And a HH sport 550 10t if it fits ok. BP Customs chassis brace with bumper. SSD universals. Incision stainless link kit. On that note I had some misc. links that were part of a bulk parts buy some time ago. I'm guessing but it appears is that they are the Incision front links for a bomber. The length was within a mm of the stock plastic links. So far that all that has been changed and hasn't even been outside yet. Thoughts, comments and suggestions are more than welcome. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

Looks awesome man!!! Nice score. I really dig the looks of the Wraith, both the 1.9's and the 2.2's, just simple and good looking. |

Looks like a good start, can’t beat that price. Wraith 1.9 has been on my list of wants for a while, but haven’t made it happen yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There are a few things I think are a must with the Wraith 1.9, cutting the body back a bit (below the doors), a rear bumper to protect the body, the BP brace and to pair with it an easy access receiver box lid. All of those mods are in my thread here Wraith 1.9 Build: rear bumper and other mods |

Also love your bumper idea too. One question could yours be adapted to use the 4 screw holes on the back of the cage vs the sway bar mount? I'm planning on trying to use a antirock bar and it seems like your mount solution would make that impossible. Thinking mount like what's on this spawn with your bumper. Might PM you on that idea if you don't mind. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk ![]() Last edited by SCX10 JK; 02-06-2022 at 08:29 PM. | |

A little update not much but it's something. I got a set of Capra shocks from Tanis (thanks again bro). I have never built shocks before so this was new. I actually didn't lose any e-clips lol. Got those assembled and filled with 40wt and the lighter weight springs. No leaks and pretty smooth so far. The Capra shocks are 5mm longer so I may still limit the travel a little if needed. I still have yet to take it outside and put it thru its paces. I also tossed on a set of pit bull rock beasts to see how they would work and clear since they are slightly smaller than the stock tires. At full compression they just barely clear all the stock tire rub points. More stuff to do for sure but I'm making some progress. Figured I would go ahead and do the shocks since 3 out of 4 of the stock ones were leaking already. ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

I think it looks great man. Interested to see how it performs once you get it outside.

The Capra shocks are much better quality and actually hold oil, just add somewhere around a 10mm limiter and they should do the trick. The rock beasts fit well ![]() |

Suggestions on the limiting of them? I had thought about spacers on the inside or a rubber bump stop on the outside of the shaft like the Ryft shocks run. Yeah the Rock Beast sizing is about perfect even a 2mm limiter and no way they are going to hit anything. Not sold on the rims that I have on them but that's a easy fix with some different beadlock rings to add a little contrast. Have to dig thru my box of wheels and see what I have. |

| ![]() I would add the limiter inside the shock so you essentially make it a 90mm shock and put it back to stock ride height. Maybe the stock springs will fit? EDIT: i forget the length of these shocks, you said 5mm I said 10. just checked and they're 98mm stock, I'd go for 8mm but you decide. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 02-11-2022 at 10:36 PM. |

Quick little update on the shocks. I got a little time outside to see how it performed and with the Capra shocks and 50wt oil it worked very well. I have about 1/4" of preload on the front and maybe 1/4" worth on the back this gives me just enough to almost fully flex. Basically under its own weight it just kisses the fenders. If its really bound up it will try and shove the tires into the fenders. Based on that I will probably limit them a little bit to take a bit of the preload off. Front is probably about 50% droop and rear about 40% with the preload the way that it is. Still not sure about the 50wt oil it seems heavy but the shocks are very predictable in their behavior. It also helps pretty much eliminate the torque twist as well. I havn't had a chance to trail it at higher speed so that might be a problem not sure how fast they will react to the bumps. I kind of want to get my links and chasis brace in as well as swapping out the esc for a HW1080 and a 550 10t crawlmaster sport if it fits.... before I do too much shock tuning at this point. Also tossed a set of Axial r35 BFG AT on stock scx10.2 xj wheels they are just a hair bigger than the stock tires but seem to work pretty good (use these on both my xj builds and have liked them on those). Being much less aggressive in tread also keeps them from ripping at the body if they do contact it. ![]() ![]() |

Kids were playing with wood blocks tonight so took the opportunity to do some ramp tests. Really surprised how stable this thing is. Few pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

Decided to change things up a bit. I wanted a clean shelf body and a running body. Tried to find an unpainted one but had no luck looks like they are discontinued and no one has any left in stock. Manage to find a orange new take off was all I could find anywhere so went with that. Looks pretty good so that's the new running body. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk |

The clear bodies are a bit scarce but I doubt they discontinued it this soon but maybe. I was 500 miles from home and just happened to find one in a hobby shop after I had been looking online for months, I scooped that up quick. |

According to Horizon's website they are officially discontinued. Couldn't even find a listing on Amain, RPP, or any of the other major RC shops. I lucked out and snagged this one on ebay 5 min after it listed. I have only seen 2 clear listed in the last 3 months on ebay as well and they sold in first 12 hrs. Kinda sucks cause I guess that means that they will be discontinuing the Wraith 1.9 altogether. Quote:
