John, would screwing a couple of steel "C"s to the OD of a thin can have a similar effect?

Yes it would. You can also feel the same effect by getting a spinning motor closer to a steel object. If the back iron is too thin the RPMs will drop as it gets closer. Admittedly, even our pullers with thin Neo magnets saturate 068 wall cans, although the power density is still better than using ceramics or cobalts and we found a pretty damn good balance of too much or too little. The next revision will put more back iron into the proper spots and take weight away from other areas to compensate. The biggest danger from running too thin of back iron is that magnets will demag easily without it. I have read that others had problems destroying neo magnets on thin wall cans, but they dismissed it as inferior materials instead of just bad design. Christian has the smarts to figure it out! Good to see you back around, always cool stuff. |

if someone wants to try the chassis egressor-chassis.dwg (0.03 MegaByte) thats the dwg file of the chassis and a dxf egressor-chassis.dxf (0.18 MegaByte) chassis plates should be 2.5mm unidirectional carbon cap should be 3mm polyamide , there is a high and a low version , i prefer the high for better roll-over-ability and the parts in pdf felsenfest_xr10_egressor-chassis Model (1).pdf (0.01 MegaByte) plates felsenfest_xr10_egressor-chassis Model (2).pdf (0 MegaByte) low felsenfest_xr10_egressor-chassis Model (3).pdf (0 MegaByte) high felsenfest_xr10_braces Model (1).pdf (0.01 MegaByte) braces Last edited by EGRESSor; 04-18-2015 at 01:34 AM. |
