Default My 1st Crawler, 1st Comp, 2nd place novice class

No Kidding, finished building Friday, went to 775RC's Comp @ Moon Rocks
and finished 2nd place novice out of 18 novices. -4 for 1 of the four courses.
The event was very professional and well run with everyone being helpful.
I feel that the XR10 gave me an advantage.

No joke. That truck would not have been allowed in our local novice class (when we had one)...

Either way, congrats on doing well....this is a fun hobby.

Well done. In regard to the comment on the truck not neing allowed on novice class when there was one-
A novice driver should not be limited to having a sub-par vehicle. That seems as if it would be more discouraging than anything. With that thinking, once one got good enough to run in a higher tier they would have to go out and start spending all over again. It's novice not sportsman.

At our club we allow them to run a truck with dig in the Sportsman/ Novice class but if they win three comps in that class they are then required to move up to the pro class wich keeps everyone changing and getting better.

You can't use dig in sportsman class. I ran a sportsman series last year and zip-tied my dig shifter arm to be able to comp.

Default XR10 in Novice Class

I was the only XR10 out of 26 novice & Pros, I had driven it for 1/2 hour the day before. Pros all had Bully/Bergs, all novices had AX10's. 775RC rules include 3 1st place finiishes - Pro class, also 5 podium finishes - Pro class.
No Dig allowed in Novice Class
I definitely felt that I had an advantage.
The comment from many people was "how smooth it runs and sounds"
4 courses on a 1300 mah 2S Li-Po. Several people said they were going to get one at local hobby shop.
I sold my Nitro Revo to help offset cost of XR10

Default Maxstone Class

775RC also had a Maxstone Spec Class
$125 for the truck including battery and 2.4 radio + less than $60 in upgrades
allowed. Stock tires only. True drivers class
90% of purse went to pros, 10% to awards
The 4th course was "Blind" - meaning that no one was allowed to view the course or any one on it and we were asked not to talk about it after running it. Only the judge and driver.

Congrats on your finish at your first comp and welcome to the hobbaddiction

Having a moa rig is certainly an advantage in novice class, unless there were others. Keep it up, learn the skills and advance to the next tier.

We do not have a novice class here. The new guys have to run with the rest of us. Then again Florida does not have the largest rock crawling following. Novice class would be one or two drivers at any given event.
