We talked about delrin, but it's always a gamble with delrin when it comes to strength.
I was refering more to scarring from sliding over rocks much like alum would instead of gawling the threads. I should have been more clear... I agree on Ti it is high. But wouldn't hardened steel or drill rod be better suited and cheaper than stainless??

I have my C's on the clocked fully up position but not any further. I see no need to clock them up any higher so I would never make an additional notch. I am working with Chaotic for a new design that does not force you to only run the C's fully clocked. The new design should accommodate more to the people that like to run the C's in the middle position.

In this picture I already posted it shows the tierod does not hang below the axle at all. In fact I had to set the camera on the counter to get a shot that even showed the tierod at all.

Ok so I got the NEW and final design on the Tierods. They are now 3/16 stainless steel and come either straight which works great when your C's are clocked all the way back or in a bent version for when you want to run your C's in the middle position. I got a chance to test both of these setups and wow are they strong. The turning just feels like it has so much more power and there is very little to no wobble now. If there is any its definitely not from the steering anymore.

The bent tierod pictured is aluminum for testing. But production will be stainless just like the straight rod. And wow is that stainless strong!!

Here it is mounted up with the C's in the center position with Vanquish Knuckles. You will notice it rides nice and close to the motor so it doesnt hang low at all.

Here is a front shot that shows the rear axle and the tierod is no where to be found. It tucks up behind the axle nicely. I think going with the 3/16 rod really gave that much more clearance.

Next I tested out the straight setup. To run the straight tierod you must have your C's clocked to the back position. There is plenty of clearance on the motor with this setup. Also with the smaller diameter rod it allows for complete maximum steering. The knuckles are the first thing to max out on my new setup. Which is in credible for Vanquish Knuckles

Those are super pimp!! I was worried the bent would limit steering..that's great that you can still get full throw!!
Nice work guys...

Leave it to Chaotic Crawlers to improve upon a factory design, makes me proud to be a team driver. I'll have mine installed and pic's up within the week.

I have to give Mac and Boost props, they are always on top of the game!

Luff you guys!

Nice, good job

May I please see a picture like the very last one you posted but with the bent link? I'm kinda curious to see if the VP knuckles touch the hubs at full throw w/o any bindage.

Thank you, I appreciate it.

pics of the bent one at full steering lock!

it steers lock to lock with no binding what so ever.
the steering rod at full lock is even in heighth with the axle tube.
my servo horn binds before the tierod does!

We did some testing with 1/4 rod, it didn't give as much clearance as the smaller rod and in the end there was no need to go that large. It only added weight, lower clearance and less steering!!

Aside from the few design flaw fixes on the XR I would dare say this is one of the best upgrades.
