Any tips to get the most articulation?

My rig is stiff as hell!!!

I'm still running the stock chassis with 30* angled uppers and the lowers are the original stock uppers (LOL) and the stock shocks (if that makes a difference). If it is the lowers, I am currently looking for better lower links. I see the delrin is most popular, but I don't like the way they look---too chunky. So I am looking for tie rod lowers, just haven't found any yet. Thanks!

Post us a pic of your suspension set up.

sounds like you got some binding goin on.

also, what springs and oil weight are you running?

and be careful, you dont want too much articulation!

I was the same with the delrin lowers.
Now that I have them, I can't imagine going back. They go over the rocks MUCH easier than the aluminum links.
I had the same problem. Switched to Losi gold springs on all 4 corners made it nice and soft.
Then I made some changes and ended up going to golds up front and greys out back. Running that with my viper chassis now and it is still working good.
Only change I made was to go to 45 shock oil, and I may go back to 30, as it takes some wiggling to get it to settle down some times.

I am running the springs that came in the XR10 kit and the 30wt oil that came with it as well. Shocks and stuff are all stock.

Here is the front, the rear is about the same.

And here is just a side shot of the parts.

Have you change the stock springs? That's the first step. Also, you need to read more, having a ton of articulation is not what we are after, 6 inches is about all that's needed.... <--- no smartass comments.

Posting at the same time.

Change your springs.

Is that what she tells you? :lmao:

To tell you the truth, I have 6inches of articulation and thats perfect. You want to be a tire hight of flex.

I was just out crawling over dumb stuff and it seemed like my rig was a little stiff. I have like a 5" reach as you can see from the pics. What kind of spring, like a softer or weaker one that doesn't give so much resistance to the articulation?

Jeepkid 03-16-2011 02:46 PM

I am running Losi golds front and rear, I ran them on the stock shocks. Now I got bigbores. They react much better then the stock springs, but I am also running 20wt in my shocks at the moment. In the cold the 30wt was stiff. Also check and see if your shocksare bled correctly. Sometimes, when there is toomuch oil in them they wont fully compress.

Yes. Losi Golds are a good start. Again, a little reading will help you understand this better.

Axial now also has a spring that is the same as the Losi Golds...think they are
the purples, they even have a lighter spring rate...Blacks?

Axial Blacks are already softer than Losi Golds. Golds are 1.4lbs and the Axial Blacks are 1.04lbs.

I heard the new axial springs that are supposed to be softer than the Golds are actually stiffer in feel... on the losi board, they said they're gonna release the prototype super soft spring that del Monte has been running for a while. Hope that helps "thumbsup"

They are actually pretty close despite the advertised numbers. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showp...6&postcount=14

I tried the blacks, but the golds still felt softer and smoother. Either way, they are both too stiff IMO. "thumbsup"

HUh.

I knew there was a reason i bought these little losi springs.

haven't run them yet though

What color are your lil dinky springs?

darkmanx 03-16-2011 04:41 PM

I am thinking of trying some spaghetti noodles I hear that the rebound rate on them is pretty much the ticket. "thumbsup"
