I really like it with the windows cut out The braided sleaving was hard to find, I looked everywhere. No one in town had it so I bought it here on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fire-...item3f08c9157b.
Its an amazing price $5 for 10 feet shipped

So I have been driving a lot and I recently had a problem today. My front motor stopped working. I first thought it was a broken gear but the motor was not moving. I took it apart and cleaned it well. the motor works good except it sparks (only in reverse and only at the contact of the brushe and commutator). When going in reverse it wont move at really low throtle. I would put it in electronics section except I thought you guys would possibly know better because the motors are in a xr10. Thanks for the help

That really depends, the motor pro's will tell you; every 30 minutes of use. you may have a somewhat stuck brush or have gotten some dirt in there, I'd take the motor apart and examine it. If there is much blacking or groves on the comm, it is time to turn. Hope that helps

If you do not hear back soon, pm EddieO at br00d, he also knows a thing or three about motors.

I agree with Tydl though, probably needs a comm cut (turn, requires a motor lathe or LHS or buddy with one) and fresh brushes or brushes cleaned (glazing scraped off), and maybe some new springs.

I put new springs in and checked the brushes. The com looks fine, there are really no grooves on the com so I dont think it needs turned. I will contact him if I dont hear back from him soon.

Can you post a pic of the comm and brushes? What might look fine may not be.

Other options could be a burnt segment, that would create all kinds of issues.

In the eyes of some I am horrible at motor maintenance only turning the comm every 2-3 hours of drive time rather than every 20-30 minutes of use

On practice days I do about 4-5 hours in a shot, no way I'm going to turn comms in the field between battery packs

Here is the picture. It might need cut. I have gone probably 3 hours of driving. Whats the easiest way to do it. I dont think my hobby shop does it because they real lack at everything else. What is the best one to get?

Seriously, people cut the com every half an hour of run time?
