| Learning the hard way build thread!
This is going to be my first build thread, but the second build for my rig. I entered the crawler world just this year so I don't expect to get this totally right, nor do I expect to teach anyone all that much. Mostly its a thank you for the people that have been helping me along the way. That being said let me start with the great members of P.A.R.C. and its pres. CRAWLER-DAD. Lets begin by showing where I started from: This build is the result of losing some rear gears after a good 2 months of abuse. When I stripped down my transmission I found this: It seemed normal after all the warnings I've been getting. I picked up the gears from RC4WD and I'll be the first to say they are worth the wait. After doing some more looking around I figured out my motor was seized up. Taking a closer look at the bearing and cleaning off the grease I found the stock bearings had come apart and had caused my gear failure. Plus I figured out that the 1st bearing is very close to an opening on the Tekin 45T motors. I opened up the motor and found a piece of the bearing: So cleary the warnings I've been hearing weren't just about making the rig bullet proof, but also saving the parts I'd already purchased. UPGRADE THOSE GEARS AND BEARINGS PEOPLE! Right now I've received a few things from Y-Town Crawlers and I'd like to thank Jeremy and Ted for their help. I've also picked up a Rowdy Racing full battery mount which I'll show next with a few new springs. These springs are softer then the stock ones on the left and you will also notice a very soft spring I used inside to give some opposing force during climbs when there is no down force on the shocks. This is just the start and I plan on doing all of this over the next 3 weeks. Last I'd like to thank Vanquish Products for speaking with me today and for the helpful idea. Looking good!! Your off to a good start, and you've definitely got some excellent help with the P.A.R.C guys! You will love this rig once it's done! |

You know what sucks? Getting called into work for an emergency then finding all kinds of good things in your mailbox and realizing you can't stay and play with them. |

Yea...that DOES suck. I did the same thing & went BIG all at once & got stuck finishing up a clients hot rod before I could tinker with my rig. Ya gotta a sweet start goin. Ur rigs gonna sound like a Prius once ya get all that Vanquish goodness installed. Haven't had a single issue since installing mine a couple months ago. Just slapped the rear link mount on a few days ago & she's looking purty sick.

| No, it was a generator and a jackhammer. They pulled up in a car next to us jumped out and grabbed the most expensive items we had. I went after them, but could only get the plates as they acted so fast. Of course these were all items that could be picked up with one hand. |

Tonight I spent some time collecting info on the differences between the BJ v4 and BJ v4.2 The bottom tray is 1.1oz for v4 and .5oz for v4.2 The side plates are 1.3oz for v4 and .8oz for v4.2 Here are the pictures of the whole chassis. And final the whole BJ v4.2 all together. Last edited by Creativetypes; 04-18-2011 at 06:42 AM. |

Update..... My wife just text me and said 2 of my new VP wheels were chewed by my boxer this morning. She said the paint is really bad, but I can't imagine that a dog could do much damage to aluminum. I hope not anyway.

Lol, talk about learning the hardway, check out my build thread. By the way, very cool idea with mix-matching the cases.
