Very cool Don! I only recently joined your ranks with my Super Wedge. But you certainly come up with some inspiring designs.

I have always been a fan of the Mantis chassis, I think this thing is great looking.

Compatability with other axles(bullies,berg)?
Measurements of chassis clearence,at the front of the skid and behind those killer rear links will be nice to see.

Great work.

At first..... JUST AMAZING

I allready had the Tracer and was impressed how much a torsion chassis suits to my drive style.

There are only two things I would like to see on this chassis.
  • I like a chassis as light as possible, means I try to put all onto the front axle... also the battery. Does the following battery mount (picture) fit because it looks like there is not enough space between front axle and the rounded skid plate?
  • From the side view, the GC is not the biggest just behind the front wheels, can you give us some measures?
I am looking forward to see more pictures and videos and hope it will be available soon

Thanks
Bellmund

Will the links be tapped for 4mm? I think I see traxxas ends in the pics.

Please put me on the short list for one of these!

I'm definitely getting one of these as soon as it becomes available! What all will I need to get besides the chassis and stuff from you? Would I need to get rod ends?

Please put me on the preorder list!

That battery mount should clear with a 860 mah lipo. The concern will be the width of the pack fitting between the lowers & the height of it clearing the uppers.

All of Don's previous chassis releases utilized revo ends.

Right now I have it at 4 lbs, 8.5 oz. I'm getting ready to slap some 3.5 oz VP knuckles weights tho.

What wheel base are we looking at? You my have said already, but I was in awe from the pics.

Also, I don't have them yet, but will this work with the vp upper link mount?
I'm liking how this flexes over any torsion 2.2 I've built or driven

Just a fuzz under 12.5"

It'll work just fine with the VP mounts, I'm getting ready to install them myself.

3.0" under the very front of the skid, 4.125" under the back of the skid, and 4.7" under the rear lower links.

Thanks! I listed the clearances above. As for compatability with other axles, this was completely engineered around the link mounting points on the XR axles. That said, I have an all new Berg Mantis and a Bully Mantis that should be coming out soon as well.

She cycles insanely well, but my vid cam is out of commission. I've been trying to borrow one till I can go pick up a new one. Vids should be up this week.

The battery will not clear behind the motor. That said, we are working on some light weight delrin battery mounts for small packs. I'm running a 550 3s on my Mantis right now.

The links are tapped 8-32 and I'm including the set screws for them. You will need 12x Revo rod ends. I seriously need to start making a list so I can make sure the first small production batch takes care of everyone wanting one of the first ones. We've already shipped a few out to reviewers/drivers.

You'll just need a pair of 4" shocks (I'm running the stock XR shocks on mine) and 12x Revo rod ends. I'm running a 4PL on mine with a pair of decased Mamba Micro Pros and a CC BEC in the front of the skid.

Keep in mind, the chassis kit is the chassis/links/hardware, the Dub upper is additional as you can run bodied or bodiless.

Here's a few pics of my personal test rig...with my 550 mah 3s mount.

Sorry for the long delay, I've got a ton of projects in the works and a lot of new stuff fixing to hit the store.

Spent the day with Don and Jason testing the mantis and all I can say is badass!!! I run a BJ V4 which I love. Think I'm going to have to build another crawler. It's down hill capability is just amazing. I think he ran at around 4 1/2 lbs and it just stuck to rocks like a fat kid on cake.
Thanks Don for letting me tag along.
Just when I told my wife I was done building you come out with whiplash and the mantis. Oh yeah my wife says

Wow! The awesome factor gets higher and higher here! I'd never think of sprung in the front and torsion in the rear, I always thought it was the other way around but whatever gets the climbs and awards I guess

Good use of 1-2-3 blocks... what brand if you don't mind me askin
