BWD XR-Mantis Prototype Chassis Kit...All New! 13 Attachment(s) As most of you who have been around a while know, I worked with H3RESQ a few years back on a production version of his Mantis chassis design - half torsion/half 4 link chassis setup. Well, being that I like to explore different concepts, especially those outside of the norm, I've made some ground on an all new Mantis that I've redesigned from the ground up, while still based on the original concept. Anyway, more details will follow but here's a few pics of the first semi-close prototype  This new version is very light weight and eliminates the axle wrap found in the old production Mantis. It also uses equal length front upper/lower links standard. I'll post pics of it "Dubbed" with the new XR-M bodiless top this weekend if time allows. SSSIIICCCKKKK:twisted:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait to see how it works on the rocks. can you post a few flex shot please"thumbsup" amazing work Don as always. that is some nasty clearance in the rear |
This is not a crawler!!!! This is ART!!!!! Beautiful!!!! |
Any ballpark figure for how much this will run? |
JUST WICKED  ! |
Nice work, never had an original Mantis but a buddy does and I always wanted one. I noticed there's very little triangulation in the rear links, does that hurt the handling or is it not necessary on a torsion chassis? I've only ever ran 4 linked rigs but if this goes into production I'll definitely take one. Ship a prototype up here to Canada and we can test it out in a "Ted's garage" video. I know, slim chance but still worth a shot. |
