Agreed.

The general public will love an oversized comp tire. It will help make RTR trucks perform a lot better and give them better ground clearance.

Short 1 battery pack video of the Cut N Shut Voodoo's:

Video #2 in what I am sure will become a series of videos based on the Ottsix Voodoo 2.2 RC COMPETITION rock crawler tire. This video features the Gold Compound Voodoo tire, except it has been cut n shut by Crawler Innovations. The tire has been reduced in height to 5.40". The Tire has also been narrowed in width to 1.75". The purpose for these modifications is to make the Voodoo shorter in height to improve side hill capability and to lower the Center of Gravity. The purpose for narrowing is to keep the tires out of the suspension at full steering to prevent the tire from be ripped or torn. Foams used in this video: C.I. Double Deuce 5.5 Narrow Inner with 5.0/5.25 Soft Outer in the front, and C.I. Double Deuce 5.25 with 5.0/5.25 Medium Outer. The wheels are 1" wide carbon fiber glue on style and made by Y Town Crawlers. Y Town Crawlers also makes the Secret Agent carbon fiber chassis as well.

This video shows many of the same lines used and films in past videos. I use the same lines over and over to gauge the pros & cons of every set up change. The Gold compound Voodoo slows crawls sandstone and iron ore like no tire I have tested before. In this video you can see areas where wheel speed produced tire spin, but slow it down and the tire grabs and goes. This compound seems extremely stable on the rocks at the Crawler Innovations Compound in East Texas. I will be testing with the Silver and Blue compounds once C.I. can obtain them. C.I. also plans to add these to our web site combined with C.I. Double Deuce foams.

The tires look so much better in that size and the foams you've got in them really seem to be doing what they should...nice work!

Thank you.

The front foams are a little soft for me. The cut n shut voodoo tire is not tracking as good as it should. It has to much loose rubber that allows the front end to be pushed around for 1/4" or so. I know the closed cell tuning disc will fix it, but I am trying to improve the inner foam design and shape. So I made some new front inners last night and will install them later. The inner foam will stretch the width of the tire at the sidewall, removing the slop out of the tire and hopefully causing it to track properly. I've got it perfected in clapped rovers, so I am confident it can be done to the voodoo eventually.

I hate Losi Boss Claws. I have never been a fan. The Losi Boss Claw on its best day with the perfect set up can't touch what an Ottsix Voodoo in the gold compound did on it's very first battery pack. The Losi rubber is so poor that it doesn't even cut n shut well.

My current favorite Rover Set Up:

Truck weight:
4 pounds 9 ounces RTR

HB White Rover
Clapped - all side lugs removed and the tire is hand sanded to both sides
Grooved - all three of the repeating big lugs around the tire
Vented - three 2mm vent holes in the tire

Y-Town Crawlers; Glue On - Carbon Fiber - 1" width wheel

Crawler Innovations; Double Deuce Foams
Front:
5.25" Narrow Inner
Soft Outer
4.50" Closed Cell Tuning Disc on both sides

Rear:
5.0" Wide Inner (I bevel the edge on the inner with sand paper to create clearance for the tire bead and to fit on the narrow 1" wheel).
Medium Outer - narrowed to 1 7/8" width

A little note in regards to closed cell tuning discs:
The 4.50" closed cell tuning discs work great on glue on wheels. The can be tough to mount on bead locks though. I had to trim my tuning disc Inside Diameter with curved scissors to get them to mount easier on my 1" VP SLW's. It did not effect the performance of the disc because the height was not effected.

A little note in regards to WIDE inners on narrow wheels:
The purpose for doing this is to stretch super soft modified tires so they track better. It removes the slop and delay these modified tires have when turning. The WIDE inner will not mount onto a 1" or narrower wheel without modification.

This is the best set up I have found for me, my driving & build style, as well as my local terrain. I do not think this set up will be perfect for everyone. I want to be transparent with the set up though, hoping that it may spark creativity in someone else. C.I. offers so many combos and foam options now, it's possible for anyone to find their perfect set up

Back to the VP 1.35" SLW's.

The blue compound is quite a bit stiffer than the gold. It has that white rover feel to it. I'm eager to get these on the rocks.

So I still haven't tested the silvers. I haven't had time. They are mounted and ready to go. I actually brought them with me to the video shoot, but the cut n shut golds are so freakin' awesome I can't bring myself to try anything else. Below is a quick video testing a few lines at a local park:

New shoes :-)

RTR Weight is 4 pounds 7 ounces and I enjoy the truck at that weight. This truck has been running with no failures or issues since August of 2012. I'm willing to sacrifice being light weight for durability.

This truck is still in the CI garage but has a new driver now. My son Gavin has a renewed interest in comp crawling. Our local club has several members working on shaftsmen trucks and we have several members with MOA Pro rigs. So once the weather begins to cool, I'm sure we will start a comp season.

This video is a compilation of video footage from many different locations using RC cars Crawler Innovations has built and used to test and develop CI products. This video features the 1:6 Willys Jeep, the Forced Wraith, Big Blue, a Wrexo, two different 2.2 Pro MOA Rock Crawlers; Top Shelf, the Mini Clod, the 1:5 Savage, and the Mega Truck. All vehicles have build threads on the rccrawler forum. All vehicles have Crawler Innovations foams in one flavor or another.

Good performing, well built trucks just keep on going and this rig is no exception. It was time to upgrade the track width to the same front and rear though. A PM to Creeper Bob is all it takes for some titanium axle goodness.
