TJ Steve's Bantam

I made a few changes and thought I'd bring you all up to date. I'm just about done changing stuff. I have some weights for the rear lockouts I'm working on to compliment the VP Knuckle weights I just went to, and will post some more pics when I get them finished in a few days. Other than that, some smaller batteries and trying different tires is about all that I'll change for a while........ I'm Likeing it!!!!!!! "thumbsup"

OK. You're Steve. :lmao:

(To the real Steve) ... Nice job on the rig!

Loving the clearance you got with those links and nice job on the skid. Why'd you move away from the EGRESSor style singular llower link mount?

TJ Steve 10-27-2011 04:37 AM

Randy, You are Steve

Travis, I was having trouble getting hung on the point.
I think if I would have just worked on raising the frame and getting the links a little more level it would have worked great.
I also wanted to take some of the wear factor off the link ends, and this skid does that.
These link ends look worn but they weren't new when I installed them.

That chassis looks real good who makes that? Or did u cut it yourself?

TJ Steve 10-27-2011 04:53 AM

A couple of teaser pics of my rear weight system..........(not finished)

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...dBantam025.jpg

Lousy pic but you get the idea.

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...dBantam027.jpg

These washers will get cut in half, for "below the axle" weight.

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...dBantam028.jpg

The whole thing will have a better fit when finished. I had to order a drill bit closer to the lockout diameter.

TJ Steve 10-27-2011 04:59 AM

Another change I forgot to mention is my rear lower link axle mount.
I've still got some work to do on it too, but it is quite functional as is.......
The links were just hanging there when I took this pic in case anyone thinks something looks weird.

Thanks man, It's completely home made.
I started with a "Progress Chassis" build and it evolved into this.
If you go to my profile and search the threads I started, you can get an idea how I got to this point.
This is the sixth or seventh chassis, and the fourth topper I have cut to get to this point, and not all of them have been shown in my threads.
Presently this is a 1/8" thick Delrin Frame, a 1/16" thick Delrin Topper, 3/8" thick Delrin Skid. and 0.040 Lexan Panels. Rig weighs in at 5.74 pounds with the battery, Ready To Crawl 8)

Here's the wheel weight system I came up with.

http://i421.photobucket.com/albums/p...tsystem013.jpg

I used one regular Vanquish weight cut in half to help clear the tapered hub.
They tuck in really nice to get the weight out and as low as possible. there is still room for more weight but these weigh 2.95 oz.and has my front/rear balance perfect.

Heres a couple more pics and one of my front setup.
