VP Incision Steering Knuckles/Stock Wheels

The VP page says:

"This Knuckle does not fit the Stock XR-10 wheel due the the width of the wheel.
These will fit all DH ProComp and SLW 1.0, .700 wide Wheels and hubs."

So what exactly does not work when trying to combine these knuckles & stock wheels? Is there any way to fix that? Or is it just a given you gotta buy different wheels?

you can narrow the stock wheels down to make them work. that is what i recently did to get prepared for vp knuckles. search this forum and you'll find all the info on how to narrow the wheels.

The off set of the stock wheels is too deep and the inner section of the wheel will hit the knuckle where the tie rod end mounts. Like jebster said narrow the stock wheels, which I have done and is very easy. Spend about $150 bucks on VP wheels.

By far the easiest solution is to fit some wheel wideners.
2.2" Wheel Widener for Axial AX10, SCX10, Losi 1/10 Crawlers, TLT-1, XC or CC-01 (Pajero, Touareg) #J51032*-*Wheel Wideners, Adapters, Glue (CA) and Miscellaneous Items*-*-Wheel Products*-*The Crawlers Store LLC

Fit 2 pf these on the front axles and you are effectively increasing the offset of the wheel widening the track.

You only need 2 of 4 as well, so if you have a mate with a crawler it's a very very cheap fix, that works great "thumbsup"

Cheers

Narrowing the stock wheels does work which was mentioned above, it cheaply achieves additional clearance for servo, links, shocks, etc. I have narrowed 3 sets my self and have done so very carefully using a digital micrometer to check tolerances. Every time I have ended up with a slight wobble in the wheel. Just a heads up, I have found it very difficult to get the wheels to spin true after the mod. They do acheive the goal though. Who knows maybe I just suck at the mod. Just my experience."thumbsup"

I've also seen a couple people dremel the hex off the wheels and drill them out for VP hubs. Then you can have adjustable off sets. I have a set of narrowed stock wheels laying around that i think i am going try this on?
