The start of the course..... My first crawler was a Losi NC and then quickly purchased a used semi modified Scorpian only to sell it within a few weeks and ended up buuing a used rtr XR10!! Needless to say the course has changed significantly and early sections have even been completely reconstructed. The main "pit" is still under construction as we speak but hope to be done in the next week or two!!!

My first order of VP bling!!! Wasnt quite sure what I was up against before I tore this thing open(trans gears)!!! I got it figured out shortly and realized the errors of my ways....all seems to be working fine up to this point. Included is a couple shots of its stance after the new chassis and some spring swapping. A few things like the lower links and carbon fiber chassis (after drilling and tapping to 4mm) and electronics plate have already come and gone to the parts pile!!! Evolution is rapid when first starting out in this hobby!!!

So it wasnt long before i got tired of losing those stupid little body clips, and after many hours of struggling on which bodiless chassis to run i thought the Y Town crawlers BJ V4 was the way i would go. I did alot of searching in the clean wiring thread before i chose my layout and preferred wire routing.( probably my 4th soldering job in the last 15 yrs so dont beat me up too bad!!) I went ahead and dove in and didnt do too poorly (at least thats what i told myself) so here is a couple pics of the skid and then the final product!!

Here is a couple of shots on the course with the first test run on the bj chassis!!! I love this thing!!! Major improvements over the previous chassis. Im looking to get in some local comps real soon. Does anyone know of any clubs or comps coming up in the so cal area? Im in Yucca Valley about 40 miles North of Palm Springs. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks for looking!!

Here is the latest VP bling. Waited forever but my DH pro comp II's with Red rings and 585 hubs showed up along with VP weights and my new HB Sedonas. These wheels are awesome, i had no idea they were "adjustable" as far as wheel width goes and the new offset gives that extra steering throw that ive been missing!!!! Finally no more rubbing on my servo, at full turn they still make contact with the shocks Last edited by 001Hulk; 12-31-2011 at 02:13 PM. |

lots of progress being made huh. nice looking rig and hope you have fun. heres a link to what may help you find comps in your area West - California at RCCrawler.com nice looking test ground too. may want to take some weights out of the rear to make getting up and over verticals a little easier. good luck and get driving =) Last edited by Kratos; 12-28-2011 at 02:09 PM. |

I opened the mail box today and found some goodies!!! First up was the Rowdy Racing behind the motor electronics/battery plate excellent product as expected. I definately had less room than i thought which meant some unexpected shifting around was in order. Luckily the second thing in the mail box were some used 3s batteries I ordered off the classifieds. Of course only one of four fit like I had hoped .After turning the skid 180° and taking a" hot wire" to the longer end of the tounge now in the rear, I managed to fold it straight up and use it as the new back support for my reciever and bec. Lastly I adjusted the front upper links for more battery clearance at full compression and turned the front lower links upside down to help act as skids to hopefully keep the battery from draging as much. By the time I had finished it was already dark so we will have to see how everything handles tommorow. Ill try to snag a few more pics on the course.

I almost forgot the third thing in my mail box were my BWD motor guards, also sweet product as expected I think im gonna hold off and save them for when I order some new HH 35T motors. Once I get those Ill cut some vent holes accordingly and install, until then Ill have to get by on the good old recycled 5hr energy bottles Last edited by 001Hulk; 12-31-2011 at 12:11 AM. |

Most of the Socal Comps are held in and around Apple Valley. So not too far from you. Here is a link to the Socal Forum. 2012 Comp schedule is not up yet but if you look there is a thread that maps all the comp sites. SoCal RC Rock Crawlers - SoCal's Premier RC Rock Crawling Site! Good work on the crawler, and definitely looking forward to seeing more progress on the course. I like the incorporation of the slide -Trent Last edited by dstrbd1; 12-31-2011 at 02:32 PM. |
