Gear up my 55's!!

So the deal is my 55T's are way to slow:roll: I wanna re gear the pinion so I'm somewhere near a 45T, no less.

Anyone with experience swaping gears and then comparing the difference?? I need options as far as strenght goes too. (GEARS) I dont want to create a week spot in the system. Is one tooth enough or more. Right now I'm running stock gearing.

Thanks guys!

I CAN'T DRIVE, 55!!!!

Easier to swap to 4s. If your electronics won't support it, its gonna be tough. You might need a pinion smaller then you can physically mesh up.

He needs a bigger pinion, not smaller.

Pinions are cheap enough, I'd start with a set of 15t (stock is 14t IIRC) and take it from there.

I'd think about going to 4s for battery power.
If you are REALLY stuck with the 55t motors, you can gear up. But you will come to a point where the gearing will overcome the torque the motor makes.
I'd look in the classified section or put up a wanted post that you want some 45t motors. Guys have machine wound 45t motors laying around all the time. Well, at least I do.

Machine wound 55s on a 4s is a nasty combo.

Probably faster than my 35t Broods/3s.

A 4s on these Broods would be a rock and strip truck:ror:

Thanks guys. I think I wanna just try gearing up for now as that's cheap. After seeing the benefits guys have running 45-35T I just shook my head. In time I'll change the motors.

Is there anyone who has experience comparing say a 15 tooth pinion vs stock?? How much difference is there??

I'm probably just gonna go ahead and do it but some expert advice always helps.

Who sells tough pinion for xr's??

Robinson racing pinions are very strong. I would go up 2 or 3 teeth and you should be good. I went up one tooth and it was barely noticeable. However, putting a 3s vs a 2s makes a huge difference!

I'm already running 3s, and I don't want to go up any more. Thanks I'll check them out

I hated my Robinson racing pinions. They were worn down to nothing in 4-5 months. My team losi pinions still look brand new after 10 months of abuse.

if you run your 55t's on 3 S with a 14t Pinion, you'll get decent wheel speed. I prefer it with the 12T pinions though, a little slower but seams to drive better and the dig holds better.

Oh really? The main reason I want to speed up is because I find when I dig quite often there isn't enough wheel speed to move around obstacles or ledges.
