Well bro...I can give you some starting points but keep in mind...everything is relative. What works on my rig may not work on yours because of differences in weight, bias terrain, drive style etc.

Im currently running 4" Big Bores internally limited but 3.5" seems to be a good size for many other guys. Im running silver MRC springs in the rear and some other 1/18th scale silver spring up front. I BELIEVE they were off of a mini sprint but Im not sure. 50wt oil on all 4 corners.

Shock mounts on the chassis are fronts in the last hole towards the chassis, top row and the rears are top row, 3rd spot from the chassis.

Link positions are the middle hole both front and back on the VP upper link mount. Upper fronts are on the inside row, 2nd from the top with the rears on the inside row in the top spot.

Like I said...my setups different from team member Paystins setup because our rigs are different. The best way to get your rig working well is bring your tools to the rock, find a semi tough line and start playing with things ONE AT A TIME. You'll need to find a happy balance. You might find that a certain link location doesn't work at all until you move your shocks. Its trial and error...test and tune.

Most importantly bro...have fun. The chassis works!

Good luck and hit us up if ya need any help.

J.D.

oh i understand that just looking for a starting point to work off as i'm a noobie when it comes to building and that i've been seeing how helpfully you (chaotic Driver) have been on here so i thought i'd ask.
Got a great test pile in my garage so i will be able to test the sh-t out of it to get it to my likeing.Just like i did with the stock chassis many late nights spent down there.lol

We run on very slick smooth but sticky rock up here in vancouver canada
my rig wieghts aroung 6.5lbs with the old chassie

Are you running 4" shock all around?or 3.5 up front? or you just limiting them?

Thanks JD

Mike

Ps- Hopefully my chassis gets here before the next comp on the 25th fingers crossed so i can show it off lol

If ya look in the general section you can see the test pile.

Current set up

Losi 4" shocks all around (do have 2 3.5" Traxxas as well if needed) White spring Have Golds as well just haven't tried them yet.
60w oil up front 50w out back
HB Rovers on VP DH2 rims
Proline 2 stage foam
Full weight up front
3 slugs out back

VP Knuckles/C-Hub
VP Lock-outs
VP Motor and trans plate
Harden gears in the rear

45t Rockstar motors
Novak M2 Dig
Hi-tech 7954sh
Castles Bec

Coming

Chaotic chassis
Chaotic TI Links
Ti Tie Rod

Still to order

VP Axail Link Mounts
CI closed cell foams (front soft, rear medium)

Was looking into getting knuckle weights but VP has been out of them forever.

I always start any new rig with a fairly neutral setup.

I will start with the upper links as parallel to the ground as possible and work from there.
I have always started with my shocks laid way down in the front and stood up a little more in back. (I've done this for years so it's a comfortable place for me to start with my shocks)

Then I drive it for a while and eventually start making changes.

I know this is vague, but I believe it's the best place to start.

Im running the 4" Big Bores both front and rear and limited em to my liking. I run my front shocks pretty laid out so I can get away with longer shock.

what advantage or disadvantage do you find laying your shocks back compared to standing them up?
