| The Almighty 3.25lb Secret Agent
I was lucky enough to receive one of the first bodiless 3.5 Agent chassis from Jeremy. I've been running a 4.0 agent since November and really liked the longer link geometry, I just couldn't keep the chassis together Hopefully this new design can hold up to Colorado drops and my driving. Specs! Hitec 7950 @ 7.0 volts Futaba 4PK and 604 rx Dual Castle Sidewinder Micros, decased and shrink wrapped together Castle BEC hiding in with the esc's Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster 35t's with 14t pinions Gen Ace 450mah and Hyperion 850mah batteries Scx shocks with 55wt oil, mini-t silver springs up front and MRC springs in the rear Shaved and snipped Boss Claws with worn out foams on Y-town Carbon wheels I decided to follow the lightweight trend, and get as light as possible with this car. To start, I sourced some .125" titanium rod for front lower and upper links, rear upper links and the tie rod. OG tmaxx rod ends with hard anodized aluminum ball ends keep everything smooth. I was a little leery about running 1/8" links, but 20-30 battery packs and no issues what so ever. Not even from the tie rod, which flexed like crazy on the bench. So far, running the links all the way up at the axle (with .125" spacers under the link mount) and one hole up has been the best setup I've run with both the 4.0 and 3.5. The uppers are slightly below level at ride height, which is just under 3". At full droop, there is 3 5/8" under the front link bolts I've run this car in two comps so far, the first one was riddled with BEC issues and trying out mini pullers. Isolating the servo from the rx and going back to 540 motors solved everything. The second comp was a CORCC series event, and went much better That was my first win in a long time, and it felt damned good. This car did just about everything I thought it should do, save for some off camber lines that needed a slightly different approach than I'm used to. I'm pretty sure that's because of the insane belly clearance and narrower track width. Other than that, I feel pretty confident about taking it out to St George this weekend and playing on some slick rock Thanks for looking, Casey Last edited by Almighty Malach; 03-07-2013 at 09:16 PM. |

Truck is looking great man! I see you left some screws out from the wheels for even more weight savings.

About 4.1 pounds right now. Keep in mind that I'm still using black oxide screws, once I change over to aluminum screws and 3/16" al crossmembers that should drop at least an ounce. I haven't given up completely on mini pullers either, but I don't have time to play with them right now. I was down to 3.8 with them, catching Jake shouldn't be too hard |

I've been very impressed with how this chassis and light weight set up has been working on the rocks, both natural and rip rap. Good job man |

Looking good Casey. Congrats on your 6th at the showdown. What kind of weight are you running on the knuckles and any in the wheels? Last edited by Illeagle; 03-20-2012 at 05:55 PM. |
