| Broken link mount
I was mounting my link on the front axle and obviously tightened the screw too much and it split the link mount. Any way to fix this? I tried crazy glue to no avail, but I'm thinking maybe I can just mount the link on the shock mount instead. Anyone do this, did it work OK?

A common "fix" is to remove the counter sunk screw (thats the cause of the splitting) and replace with a button head (the domed head type) bolt, but also use a 3mm washer underneath the bolt head to spread the bolt's load over the split mounting area. A dab of CA (superglue) on the cracked area beforehand may help strenghten too. Should hold fine with new bolt/washer (mine has). If not - buy a new axle casing - they are pretty cheap - and do the above (button head bolt rather than counter sunk stock bolt) and it will be much safer. |

Me personally, i did the same thing. I just bought a new case. less worry and im not messing with the geometry. But give it a whirl and see how it turns out for ya! If you dont like it, get a new case. They are pretty cheap! |

When I had my XR I just removed the split portion and used a button head screw by itself. Since it's threading into a nut you can tighten it down pretty good and not worry about it.

Thanks everyone. I moved my links up to the shock mounts and it worked ok, but it clocks the axle back too much, to the point that the motor is a little lower than the axle. I was planning on ordering a new case, just looking for a temporary fix.

A perfect opportunity to justify buying another crawler. I might go out and break mine now.
