Default A few Questions about XR10's

Ok so here are a few questions I have about XR10's

~So does anybody run their XR10's with not weights? Like running SLW's and not running knuckle weights?
~What are the best motors for them that aren't super expensive
~What ESC's would you guys recommend that aren't too expensive? (I'd like to run dual ESC's)
~What are the best shocks to use?

Thanks!

What do the weights and the DLux wheels weigh compared to SLWs?

That depends what foam you are using and how the Sedonas are shaved down, mines are about 5.5 oz with Eddies new cc inner and soft outer, the sedonas are shaved. Slw's with VP 600 hub. But I'm sure there is some space to get less...

So running SLW's is heavier than the DLux wheels and knuckle weights?

o hell no. the delux wheel is just a lil liter then the slw.

when i was running vp wheels i run dhs up front with 2 slugs an slws out back with no weight in them . now i run the dlux whhels all around no weight in rear an 4 oz on each side with nuck weights. i think if i weigh the wheel tire an foam an nuck weight it like rite at 10 oz

What do you guys think of running Micro Sidewinders? Have any of you ever blown any or had problems with them? Could you guys give me the Pro's and Con's of them. Also What about B1r's?

Micro Sidewinders aren't bad, but I have known a lot of guys that have blown them up for a variety of reasons. If you really want a bullet proof small package, in my opinon, go with 2-Tekin FXR's, and have Chris at Creation Fab do his shrink magic. He will de-case them, solder them together and shrink wrap them. Very small package and will run 3s and big motors with no problem. Just remember to run an external BEC, like the Castle unit.

Motors, I would go with Broods or Holmes Hobbies. They both offer machine wound motors that are very inexpensive and will last you a long time.

I'll let the other guys answer some of the foam questions, I like a heavy rig, so I am not in on the super light trend. I just added knuckle weights and love the traction I get from lots of weight. Just what works for me is all..

Chris is only 2 hrs away from me. My bro also does a lot of really good soldering so he could probably do that for me . I've figured out what motor I'm going to use. I talked to Eddio and he told me what would be a good one for not to expensive. I'm going to run the Ravage 45t Matched motors.

I will be running the CC 10amp BEC. And a Hitec 7950TH. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should run the new Chaotic Switch Chassis with their links or the YTC Secret Agent with CC links. The main thing that is making my decision hard is the price.....

Ahh thanks! I've decided that I will go with the Secret Agent 3.5 chassis and Chaotic Crawlers Links. One of the reasons I'm going with this over the New Chaotic Switch is because my older bro is going to build a Switch . Here is what I'm planning on starting with....

XR10 Axles
YTC Secret Agent 3.5 Chassis
Chaotic Crawlers Ti Links
Chaotic Crawlers Ti Tierod
Nordic Crawlers 2.2 CF wheels
Rowdy racing front battery mount topless
Custom Tires

And for electronics I'm going to get...

Brood 45t Ravage Matched Motors
Dual Micro Sidewinders, FXRs, MMP, or Sidewinder SCT....(I'm still deciding)
Hitec 7950
Turnigy Nanotech 850 3s
CC 10amp BEC

What do you guys think?

If you are going that far, plan on 2 sets of RC4WD gears and either the VP motor plates and gear boxes, the 9mm bushing mod to the stock plate, or some RC4WD goodies for the transmissions.
Won't take long with those motors and you'll pop a set of gears. I popped my first set with stock 45t Tekins, that were used and just about worn out.

Sounds like a good combo, can't wait to see the build thread.

I'm going to be doing the mod that Mark Reel did to his axle cases to get his stock gears to last for over 5 months. I don't know if he has blown them yet....

I'm running 4 oz in each front SLW wheel.

Holmes Hobby 2012 Brushed Team Motor with checkpoint end bell.

I've never run a smoother ESC than Castles Micro Pro.

I like my 3.5 Big Bores with the cap mod and RPM's duel action pistons.
