Default insight please: raising upper link mount

So I have seen a lot of you guys running vp's upper link mounts. I know this raises the position of the links but I am curious to know what it is supposed to do as far as handling goes. I think more link separation results in more stability but I'm not sure. Any insight would be great, thanks
