Default Average upgrades?

I know its a weird question. But If I take a stock xr10 and put rc4wd gear sets, Vanquish Gear cases and motor plates of whatever brand? With 45t motors running 3s and maybe some link upgrades?? How durable would this setup be?? electronics I will upgrade with $ etc.. Thanks for the help guys! Im assuming that the stock gears wont last very long? From what ive been reading?

I drilled the plates and upgraded to 9mm bearings, bushings in the cases and link mounts with RC4WD gears. Running 35t HH on 3s no issues.

Replacing the tiny 5x8mm bearing on the top shaft with an oilite bushing that won't disintegrate and destroy the gears.

I would suggest the VP bronze bushings and RC4WD gears. If you use the VP bushings you wount have to drill or replace the motor plates. A lot of people have good luck with the Traxxas cast bushings, but I have split and broken so many its VP for me, and if you use the Traxxas bushings you will still need to do the 9mm bearing mod or replace the motor plates.. That will get you where you need to be untill you can do more later.

If you have some mechanical ability, then do the 9mm bearing mod in the stock motor plates, the traxxas bushings everywhere else in the gear cases, the "mark reel" 2 extra bolt mod in the rear housing, you'll have a pretty durable setup. Stock gears and all. You may still break the 12 tooth gear shaft if you have no throttle control (full throttle when bound up).

If you'd rather just throw money at it, get VP or RC4wd motor plates, either the RC4wd or Axial machined gears, and the traxxas bushings.

IMO, there's no need for the aluminum gear cases at all. 100% pure bling.
