Am i do ing this right . The idler gear seems to rub against the screw that holds the front link. Just that they should all spin smoothly

Front link? Or the screw that holds the link mount?

The screw that holds tje link mount doesnt tighten up fully flat because it hits the bearing

switch to a flat head screw, then trim the head to fit without contacting the gear. i just used a dremel and took off some so it cleared

Is it VP with RC4WD gears?
If so, grind the screw so that it clears the idle gear. It's pretty common.

Yeah its vp motor plate and rc4wd gears. Thanks everyone for the quick reponses buildin right now didnt count on this bit oh well nothing can be perfect i guess

It's a known issue...no big deal though as the guys above mentioned...just take a little off the head of the button head screw that was included with the motor plate so that the edges of the gear don't rub it. "thumbsup"

Another thing you can do is to countersink the hole so you can use a flat head screw flush to the plate.

well im having a similar problem but i don't know if my block that holds the top shaft is going down all the way?how far does it go down.does anyone have a detailed picture of just the link mount, little block and the bearing for the end of the shaft on only.
