| servo issue
i went and tried out my new xr10 today and i got to say i really like it better than any rig i have driven but to the issue the servo is getting extremely hot and it stopped steering just like the servo was unpluged it wasnt responding in any way you could turn the steering knob on the radio either way and it wouldnt turn but a few seconds later it would turn then start working again for a sec but it was still extremely hot. did it just burn up or is there a issue with the radio.

When you turn the wheel via the tx, can you hear it servo motor spinning? if so, the gears are toast. Although Ti geared, there is still a plastic gear in there. Also, running hot either means your end points are too wide (causing the servo to try turning farther than the physical limits of the steering system, or there is major binding in the steering linkage. When the epas are set properly, the servo should make no noice when at full lock. If it is humming or buzzing, then the epa needs to be turned down. |

You can hear nothing when turning it has a ticking noise just setting there. And I had a small cheap servo from a spectrum radio hooked it up and it works perfect so it's toast I guess. It did have a buzzing noise before though which my ax10 has the same servo and it buzzes. How do I stop the buzzing noise ? I'm gonna take the 7954 off my ax10 and put it on this rig

Another possibility it that you were running to long of servo horn for the strength of you servo. Also if one of your front wheels in a bind if you try turning your wheels the opposite direction that will get your servo really hot really fast.

You need to turn down your radio's End Popint Adjustments (EPA's). Adjust them so that your steering gets macimum travel in each direction, but without the servo humming or buzzing when at max lock. And adjust it while the front end is off the ground.

Digital servos always humm/buzz/tick at center ....... they are always trying to find center. Nothing new or harmful. Its the humm/buzz when at full lock like SK said that you need to listen for and adjust out. | |

| Re: servo issue The vp goodies should help because in your build thread you said it had stock knuckles and i assume stock steering arm which is too short and stresses the servo and vp knuckles have a longer one, so probably this and the epa's helped to kill your servo.
