Default Tydl's Viper 2

C.H.U.D. and the Underground team have put alot of thought into how to improve the Viper. It was a great chassis, the reason I went with an xr when I went moa. Its only gotten lighter and more stable with this new revision. I've always liked the Underground Crawlers chassis, and I think this one is the best yet

I'm getting ready to build the rig with the production chassis. Should be done sometime tonight. Not changing too much to the rig right now, but I'll list the parts after its running. I beat on the prototype @ ecc and the only thing that broke was rec wires from esc

And the question everybody wants to ask

How much does it weigh?

Thats with Jatos for fitment, but there will be some lightening in its future.

This is with full panel skinz, SS hardware, and the OG fat CF sides:

6.1oz!!!
Thats a bit heavier than I expected

I took the time to cut down the tongue on the new chassis since I will be running the battery on the front motor

99 grams is equal to 3.492122 ounces. Thats close to half of the old one

Well, after talking about pulling the axles, I had to do it, its been a long time since they've been completely seperate

I even took the time to weigh the axles while they were off

Considering that I run wheels without weight proportion seems pretty good

Got a fair bit of soldering to do

I also picked up new foams from Nova, so those will be at the end, will try to weigh those too

Rig will be ready to run tomorrow, I expect

Sweet

Don't forget that my old chassis has the skinz attached still. They do add a bit of weight. I've also got a couple small pieces of velcro on the skid, but that's practically nothing in terms of weight... a gram or two maybe.

My axles are in the same shape as yours still, links and shocks attached. I should get a weight to compare. I'm not running as much additional weight as you, but I think you'll be surprised by the numbers.

942g for the front axle with a reciever,

and 544g for the rear...

Actually not too surprising. The weights are pretty close. I bet the extra knuckle and lockout weight that you're using makes these axles pretty much a wash.

I think I got mine on sale for ten bucks... I didn't think it'd be an important thing, but having a scale helps a lot!

Nice! My favorite team on here . I am still waiting for my viper gen2 to arrive..... Sigh...
Does any one, guys, have a template for the side plates?
One thing I noticed though. There is no brace in between the main frame. Won't it flex a bit? Just curious.

V2 will be going out as soon as Juan can

You can add the brace, but I'm not having any issues with the chassis flexing. This may become a light rig, the brace is just added weight

There are 2 spacers on each front side between upper and lower chassis plates for a total of 4. It was probably smart to have some sort of spacer between chassis plates.

Looking great Wade!

The team drivers had prototype chassis' early on, and I believe they still have the 1/4" spacers and run them doubled up in the front. Production Viper II's are shipped with 1/2" spacers. One is used per side in the front, and the other w 2 can be replaced or trimmed for a narrowed rear end.

I actually made mine, I picked up some delrin locally and drew up the design. I cut it with a jig saw and rounded the edges with a dremmel. I'm a do it yourselfer, when possible. Now when I go to Ti lower links, I think I will have somebody bend them.

Crawled most of the day yesterday and it was fun. The new chassis just sticks to the rock

There was some carnage yesterday, 3 rodends

And this is our little gap, tricky jump

DickyT got it on video yesterday, so maybe it'll go up later

The rig is looking great! Those rear Sedonas are looking to be nicely broken in...

Are all the team drivers dove-tailing the chassis at the rear? The production model is shipped with the same width spacers front to rear correct? I'm just tossing ideas around for how I want to set mine up.

Thanks Juan for clearing that up! I used axial 1/4" spacers in the rear but I might just take them out after seen tydl rig , tydl I was wondering how long ur upper rear links were , and are ur rear lowers a copy of t1e just made a touch longer? Looks great gonna start mine soon just having a hard time taking the v1 apart as its been so good to me over the past year + !!!

Don't hesitate. V2 is miles ahead of the V1 in performance on the rocks!

We strived to push the limits as hard as we could.

Rears are looking nice huh? I need to get some of that rubberized ca to patch a few holes opening up As far as doving the rear, yup, as far as I know, we are all doing it. It works

I'll have to measure my uppers, I'll do the lowers at the same time. The rear lowers do look t1e like, but this is my 3rd set I've cut - we have brutally sharp rock I think with the new chassis any standard link will be closer to legal. I was running cut jatos on one end, but they are now revos.
