[AxQUOTE=Harvo;3721260]So I was just looking at a spool. What brand do you use? Where are the 4 holes you drilled out to 1/8th? Or did you drill 4 holes that were not originally there? 4 grams is pretty substantial for one gear Drilling out the shafts.... interesting. [/QUOTE] Axial machined spool. I somehow didn't get a picture of it, so I will make sure I get one when I drill the rear gears out. I'm actually going to try to peel a few more grams off of the rear gearset |

Looks like it's time for me to re-build some axles when I get home! Fresh starts are always exciting. Thanks for attempting to make this an actual build thread showing how to achieve a capable; light weight & reliable rig. |

Here's a drilled out final gear compared to a stock Axial machined final gear. This one only ended up about 3g lighter, so maybe the first one still had some grease hanging on the teeth when I weighted it. Either way, this one has a date with a mill tomorrow to shed a little more weight. |

Finished up my rear spool This was good for almost another 4g. Now that the rear axle is done, I can start on links and shocks |

After seeing this build thread it is easy to understand why your win list is so long. Keep up the great work and see you back in Alabama this September.

A little birdie told me you're coming out to our comp on Saturday to drive on some "real rock". You better beef that thing up for the concrete bashing that's gonna take place. See ya Saturday! |
