I mean some want the esc's & BEC shrinked together, some want the rx and BEC seperated from the esc, some want them all in one block, etc. And option 2 is what option 1 would be in option 1 wasn't an option

Here's a quick late-night update This week, I received some very nice and very beefy 5mm Ti rear axles from Hulksta Engineering. I don't think I will be bending these any time soon, and as an added bonus, they are 2g lighter per side I have a bunch of small link and shock changes in the works as well. The AL rear lowers are out, but 1/8" Ti lowers look to be pretty promising so far. |

Be careful with the 1/8" Ti links. We tried them as uppers with the original release of the BWD Thing and a couple of the guys had failures pretty quickly

Nice axles. I just snapped mine trying to get the wheel nut off I would recommend putting some anti seize on the thread prior to installation to avoid heat build up due to friction when loosening and tightening wheel nuts so pissed at myself Last edited by jakesy; 05-26-2012 at 04:33 AM. |

I use 1/8 Ti for my uppers, and my rear uppers are pretty long compared to most people. At 150mm I get some flex, so I would imagine anything near that length on a lower would have issues. But it's relatively cheap so give it a try.

Also, for comparison's sake, a length of 1/8" Grade 5 Ti and an equal length of 3/16" 7075 .049 wall tubing weigh virtually the same on my cheap scale. The 7075 is stiffer, but it cannot be bent into a high clearance link. Last edited by Del Monte; 05-26-2012 at 08:21 AM.

| Re: Del Monte's Secret Agent build Mcmaster Carr As expected, I bent one of the Ti lowers in practice on Saturday. Even if it hadn't bent, I did find a few climbs where the truck felt "springy" because of flexy links. After watching Skaldiddog Joel's rig float over some pretty wicked stuff at my local practice area, and pretty much everything else for the past year, I decided to try out a set of big bores. I had to do some creative mounting to get everything to cycle smoothly on the Agent, but they feel really nice so far. The big bores added 20g to the overall weight, but I should be able to get that down a little lower once I have the correct length Al and Ti hardware in hand. I made a quick run back to Horsemen's park and put a few packs through the rig this evening. The big bores are slightly shorter eye to eye than my SCX10 shocks, but this seemed to put the ride height right where the agent should be. It completely cancelled out the rear tire lifting on steep off-camber decents, and improved its climbing ability to an even crazier level. Even with my temporary straight rear lowers, the truck would still hop over breakovers nicely. Between Saturday's practice session, running 560-something gates in a G6 event, hanging out by the fire, and practicing again tonight, I have spent 19 hours at Horsemen's park in the last two days |

19 hours is insane man. I really enjoyed watching you put the smack down on that night stage of the g6.

Big bores are THE shock for the SA IMO. They just seem so much smoother and really seem to have th ideal overall length & stroke. What oil dud you start off at? I'm running 22.5 front are rear. The Losi golds are a small tad too stiff, but otherwise he setup seems pretty good. |

They are hands down the best shock I have ever ran. Jake, How extreme are your bends with the 1/8" ti? I wouldn't even waste my time with the grade 2 stuff. It bends like stainless steel during a bending process. I will only use grade 5 at this point. I have some 1/8" uppers in the works as well, but I believe the only way to stop them from bending or feeling springy is to keep them as straight as possible. (possibly using axial bent rod ends to keep the rod ends unbound) I would love to see someone gun drill 3/16" titanium and then bend them as lowers. Rig is looking killer as always.

The front feels slightly too slow, but the truck performed so well overall that I might just leave it alone for now. Quote:
The link that I toasted had a pretty big bend in it. I bet a straight link would have survived. If I am going to run a straight link, I could stick with my 3/16" 7075 since it weighs about the same and feels stiffer than the 1/8" Ti.

Are those the 3.5" big bores, part number 2660? I was thinking about trying those since my scx's leak, and I put my Kyosho velvets on my 2.2s rig.
