Default new to the xr10

im picking up a xr10 saturday. iv read through the tips and tricks sticky.
its used but still bone stock as far as i know.how well will it hold up to playing, no comp crawling. anything that needs upgraded before i run it?

for electronics it has a spectrim mg servo,rc4wd 55t motors and a outcry dual motor esc. i know ill need a lvc. ill be running it from a un hacked gt3b.

will a punk dig work with the dual motor esc? and a 2pos 3rd channel?

ill post up pics once i have it in my hands

From what I understand you'll need a 3pos 3 chan but I may be wrong.

I've just picked up my xr10 recently and I've already started upgrading stuff. Appart from the usual high clearance links (which aren't needed right away) the only thing I would really recommend is a high torque servo (I went a 7955tg) and a ext bec.

Look forward to pics!

Hack the Gt3B and get some Traxxas #3775 bushing to replace the small bearings in the gear cases a.s.a.p And while your in there do the 9mm bearing mod to the stock trans plates! This will save alot of greif in the near future.. I really like the difference the Losi gold springs made to how the chassis performs>> Might be just me though.. May as well get some RC4wd gears on order for future replacemant!! They go out of stock fast.. Or the more $ Axial stuff.. Then mod as you desire!! Vanquish/Hr etc etc... Have fun!

A punk dig will work with a 2 position it just won't be fully functional. There are a lot of must have mods if you want a solid platform. Lots and lots of info on here. Take a day and just look through build threads and you can get an idea of the basic ones.

I think it is primarily for the rear due to the longer final gear shaft. I guess I am going to have to try and get a sunday off in order to get to meet you.

It addresses the issue with the rear axle. It and the front are designed differently.

You have got to have seen my pos. Its a white 95 accord that is lowered and used to have a huge spoiler on the rear. I am not even sure I should let everyone know what I drive. The last truck standing is going to be a great event. I cant wait. The xr looks like what mine did about a year and a half ago. Good luck trying not to just change everything.

took it out to high falls yesterday. didnt do to good.but it had no weights in the wheels, and the tires weren't vented

cleaned up my wiring, vented the tires and added some weight(half oz fishing weights),and found a pair of integy 35T motors in my tool box.there not the best, but there better than the rc4wd 55t's in it now.

You likely took out as much wiring weight as you added in tire weight!
Now it's down low and where you need it.

As to the 35T's, it will add some "snap", even if they're Integy's.

5/8th set screws will screw right in the stock wheels and they are cheap. 1/2 long ones weigh around .05 oz. and the 1 inch long ones weigh around 1 oz.

True....but lead has a higher density than steel, thus more weight in a given volume.

did a little more work on the wiring, bent a set of links for the rear. found out that the internal wheel weight rings were in the rear tires. no weights for em though. the outcry esc is massive . also did the rear housing screw mod too
