wanting a winner.. Xr-10 build thread

Hi all, I'm Troy Winner an I'm leaving my shafty for sport class an stepping up my game for next season.. so here it is..
this is what a started with:
Bj3, big bores, punk dig, an integy motors, an slightly used xr axles off the classifieds..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...47EB9-orig.jpg

Not so pretty.. lol.. so I dug up some spare links an got to work on the plastic link replacement, amongst other things.. and new parts..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...271EF-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...B7BA7-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...B1ADE-orig.jpg

Chassis I thought bout goin with or a bwd mantis... Now I'm goin along the lines of a chaotic "switch" chassis.. I believe..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...7590B-orig.jpg

Here it is with the new links..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...35F99-orig.jpg

All wired up an ready to test..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...2CE89-orig.jpg

Tires an foams mounted an ready to get to work on them.. slw v1's .600 up front, .475 in the rear.. for now..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...DC348-orig.jpg

Work done...

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...9C0B3-orig.jpg

Mounted up an ride height is a little high, so I moved the front uppers back a holes as well as the rear uppers, to get the motor up an out of the way..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...3DACD-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...5102A-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...628A8-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...F4181-orig.jpg

New goodies! Speed matched 45t HH hand wounds... Bushings an waiting on 9mm bearings to show up to switch it all in at once..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...7C805-orig.jpg

Ok, so I have been building this over the last week or so an got it all together for testing an to get exited bout the switch... Got it out on the rocks an... First fail!

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...97B-orig-2.jpg

So back into the bench for another mod.. cut out the stock tie rod area an put some more spare links together..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...664-orig-1.jpg

Back out to the rocks... Got a snap an snapbucket decided that's all I was getting..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...732-orig-1.jpg

Ok, that's all for now.. I'll do a parts write up when I get the chance.. an will keep progress posted..

It looks good, nice work. Keep it up and get that Switch chassis, you'll thank yourself when you do. It's awesome.

Very nice start on your rig!!! If you go with the Switch you will not be disapointed!!! It is an amazing chassis. Keep up the good work!!!

I would swap those hubs and put the 600s on the rear and the 475s on the front. That should put you at 11 front and 10 3/4 back. Just my preference. Looks good though. I had one of these chassis and it worked very well.

Right! Now let's go crawling!

Thanks guys,
I was also thinking bout switching the hubs, it seems pretty wide the way it sits..

As well, I'm ready for a chassis SWITCH already... I'm goin crawling today to play, an have stuff for sale to get the chassis, some stuff gone, so getting the links an tie rod ordered today! It's a start..

Nice job and don't let anyone fool you that you need to spend money on a new chassis... the BJ chassis are still great chassis. The only time IMHO that you will notice a difference is if you were a pro driver and drove the rig daily and had it dialed in down to the gram.

Looks good so far.

You going to Actives late in October?? We may, just looking at schedules.

Not a points comp for GSRCRC, but Actives is fun as well. I believe it's listed on EPA.

Re: wanting a winner.. Xr-10 build thread

I hope so Charlie, I hope so... I'm ready for a comp with the xr, to see where I have to go with it..

As far as thy bj chassis goes, it was my first favorite chassis.. would like to find a bj4 with ti links.. this chassis looks like a cookie cutter-home cut out an heated up an bent with pliers.. I can see the teeth from the needle nosed pliers used to do it, not to mention its off.. the two sides don't match from lower to upper parts of the chassis.. so I do want something diff an more realistic to setup.. so bj4 chassis out there in boxes, CF maybe even, pm me.. I would rather start spending money on a mt-4 first..
I do spend every day crawling or atleast some point each day I crawl.. it will be dialed in, when I get something uniform to dial in, chassis wise... Maybe someday a pro/team driver... Only way to get there is to have something to get there with, imo.. I like the Switch.. more so then the looks of an t1e or viper or so on.. I like curves.. bj4, mantis, switch....

Ok, now a question, got 9mm bearings.. axa1217, axial flanged bearings.. anyone using them or see an reason they won't work?

Oh, an I got crawling today an got more pics, but Photobucket is being .. well its not working! It won't bring my pics up.. what a rush! It was a blast to crawl an I was all alone at that.. nice an quite

That rock, they did! See with the creeper, I had free wheel an locked rear dig. With the over hang the back tire liked to slow me down an even tho it made it once(cause I got a good back tire hop), the the xr, I locked the front an the rears walked right up over, tho I didn't need too, it crawled it without dig anyways! It's bad a$$!

Side note, since I won dlux ti sliders...... Order for chaotic switch ti links, revo ends, an tie rod placed!
