Default front turns faster

* I searched and didn't find anything.

What would cause/remedy the front turning faster? This XR is my wife's and I don't drive it a lot. I always thought the front turned a little faster. But yesterday on some steep climbs it became very noticeable and hindered it's ability.
Timing issue? Motor just going out? I got it used so i don't know much about it or how old the motors are. they are Turnigy motors, single FXR, Punk.

You want the front to turn a little faster!

The pinions are probably different on the front and rear.

Ummmm...."punk" = single ESC dual motors, front or rear dig....no mixing. Thanks for the idea though.

OP, as mentioned by Tgreer & you, it could be:

-Worn motor/brushes on one motor
-Different pinions between the 2 motors
-Different timing between the 2 motors.

For a single ESC/dual motor set-up, it is usually set-up so the front motor spins a little faster than the rear.

Best bet is to run dual ESC's (yes, it costs more) so you have front/rear dig as well as proportional.

You can check solder connections from the ESC to the dig, then on to the motors.
Then check pinion sizes front & rear.
Follow-up on checking motors make sure the brushes move freely, they have brush length, etc. There are stickies in the electronics section on motor maintenance to help with looking at motor timing & brushes.

If they are both the same motors they are prolly timed the same way.. problem with that is, the back motor will spin the opposite direction then its timed.. plus other things already mentioned...

Time to open it up an see.. let us know how you make out

Glad to hear this. 4PL and another FXR is on our wish list

For some reason it just seemed off this one trip. Always been solid. It was getting outcrawled by my Wraith.

A side note: the steering died suddenly on the trail. Just stopped working. Got it home, trouble shot with another receiver and the servo was fine. Plugged, unplugged connections and all of a sudden, everything worked fine. When I first started checking on the car, the FXR felt really hot. Any ideas?
Running 2S lipos and FXR is all set up accordingly

everyone above is correct however once you start pounding on the rig and and start flipping it with throttle you will start damaging the comm and brushes on the motors and will have to maintain them more or rebuild them more often. thats the problem with brushed motors

Got it. I've been giving my wife the stinkeye more and more as she flips every 2 minutes.
At least she's already shopping for motors.

What's a good turn count for the XR? Running off 2s. Seem slike I've seen #s all over the place. From 15 to 55...
