Get your self some 6" comp cut foams for the front and 6" standards for the rear, it will eliminate that drag slicking.

Thanks for the info gents. Went another route.
Put my Silvers on with some pin trimming. Used the same foam setup from the golds. I mounted one up with the soft outers. But it felt way too soft. Will be testing these this weekend. Stay tuned.

OUCH!
I forgot one of the best pieces of advice of crawling. "Check Yo Rig" after every time you run it. Thought the rig was good. Cut the pins, put more weight in the front. Then took the body off to move the links....

So now I'm on a whole other rebuild. Have a temporary hook up coming, but I'm not sure if its going to be the route I am going to go. If it all works out, I crawling this weekend.

Wow that really stinks. You did a real number to that chassis plate, broken in not one but three places.

Finally have had time to post up.
First off I would like to thank Joel (SkaldidDog) and Jake (Del Monte) for helping me get a new rig back together so we could go and crawl. We were like a pit crew, 2 of us working on it at a time. It was crazy.

So now this is Rebuild 2.0
I have a 3.5 Secret Agent chassis now with hpi aluminum firestorm shocks.

Plus there was a few things I missed that Jake helped out with. The front lower link mounting points on the axle need to be shaved to free them up. And some extra bracing with the chassis and bigger stand offs for the shocks.

So after all this we were ready to crawl. Get to the spot and POOF! My battery goes up in smoke.
Didn't even get to run it. Took it back to the bench went through all the wiring, looked good. Tried again, same problem. (Sorry Joel about your battery for the second test) Was ready to ditch the fxr combo when we notied that the cap for one of the esc's was crossed over onto itself. Bent it apart and it seems to bee working fine, for now.

Can't wait to get this thing out on the rocks.

Looking good Bryce!!

Do you run braces between your uppers? I've found that they make the chassis a LOT more rigid.

No. Not enough room.

Hi Frankenwheely !

The rebuild 2.0 is pretty nice but it couldn't be different with your pit crew !!! I noticed the "hpi aluminum firestorm shocks" and have 2 questions about them :
1 - You have choosen those because you had them ? they were the only thing you had ?
2 - They don't leak ? Why the aluminum version over the plastic one ?
Thanks,
E.

I bet the"cap for one of the esc's was crossed over onto itself" was pit crew sabotage for paypack. But you smoked Joel's battery, so there is only one remaining suspect

They were SkaldidDog's old set up for shocks. He runs Big Bores now. We wanted to get the rig finished to go crawl ASAP. They worked for him until he switched. They feel good and they seem that they will work fine.
Skaldiddog's "Progress"

They haven't leaked on me sitting on the bench yet. I believe he chose the aluminum so he could mill on them and drop some weight.

Man that's exactly what it was. I had already re-soldered all of the battery and motor wire connections when Bryce mentioned that "they [escs] didn't even beep" when we plugged them in. Ironically he had the truck in his hand on the way out the door to go home when he said it. That told me power wasn't even making it to the escs (since they never smoked). Sure enough a very close look revealed a twisted cap and touching wires. A quick pry with a screwdriver and it booted right up. Just in time to run it on the floor of the garage for a second and go home. That was all of his crawling for the day. I felt kinda bad that we hadn't sorted it out a lot earlier.

Firestorm shocks never leaked on me more than any other shock. I really like them but am a true Traxxas fan and like the grey look over the gold look. With an assortment of springs to test I'm sure they'll work on this rig until he tires of the urban look.

This thing has been fighting me lately. Took it out today, and noticed that the esc's are running hot. As well as every time I put a new battery, my motors are off. 1st Pack my front is spinning faster, the next pack the rear and vice versa. They are done, Tekin is out on on my rig now. Too many problems. The tires were hooking up when my rig was working. Have a few more mods to make and new parts coming.

What kind/how old are the batteries?
Are the motors in need of a rebuild or replacement?
