What a WICKED Reptile! These were fun to do. When Stephan contacted me about doing his Reptile, I knew I wanted to go with a reptile theme. He was open to the design and we knocked it out of the park.

I cannot figure out where those bushings are mounted... Are they supposed to replace the ball bearings ?

Besides the first question from Weekend Crawler seems to me completely unrelated... I think he was asking about the use of M3 screws on rear axle, gluing some brass tube in the lower half of the axle and tapping. Am i completely wrong ?

I know they are posts of a long time ago but I read them now...

Reptile chassis is cool

Thanks
Filippo

Yes they replace the stock size non-flanged ball bearings. The most common location for the bushings is under the front link mount. Some guys are going back to stock plastic gear boxes and using the bushings in them as well.

He's talking about using brass inserts from McMaster-Carr that are threaded for 3mm and push into a slightly larger hole. They work a lot like a drywall anchor to hold a picture on a wall. McMaster part #94510A030 LINK

Works well..... A good friend has a stock set of XR axles that have worked flawlessly for close to a year with brass inserts and careful shimming.

I use the links from my secret agent i drove before. I only switched to longer Rodends at the rear, because the reptileskid is shorter than the y-town ones. If you look back you could see pictures of the longer rod's.
I drive 40/60 and my front lowers did have 124mm or 4,88". Hope that helps.

If they are more questions please ask.

@ZZR 1100 Racer
Good luck and much fun in Spain Stephan! I hope the heaven is blue/white like today in Bavaria (Temperature is certainly warmer and water surely better than in "your" Wertach)

@laalaa
The tires are so fat,because the foams are fat too....
I have skinny rovers for a few days and I´m very excited how they will work,probably the only problem is to find suitable foams.I cut some foams and hope to find the right proportion

Hi, very nice car, I'm always following the changes!!!

I also have wheels from NCD and they are really great but I have one question, do you protect de foams with anything in the interior of the wheel?

Thanks

You do NOT have to protect the inner foam

Take the protective film off the skins man. They'll really shine after that.

You now that i was one of the first who tryed your skinny rovers, but i could't find the right foamsetup for them. I know bossie's are old style, but they work not so bad for me since i'm crawling.

Film was off, Mike...i read the bully2 build tread from crawlking...

Nats of spain are over and i quali with 5th and finished with 6th after hard final. Not bad if you are looking at the starting list.
First day i did perform very bad and also have stupid mistakes. Second day and last run before final was much better and felt good.
I learned a lot about my rig and myself in comping at the last weekend. Now i have to train a lot with the new thinking in my head to have the chance to go to the next level.

Stephan
