That's only once a month... twice if I make it to a U4 race

I'm teaching machining at a local makerspace called Vocademy. It's a pretty neat gig actually. I have access to their CNC mill and lathe and other toys in my free time.

I've been pretty busy with Y-Town skunkworks lately, but I got finally got the production Double Agent 2.0 wrapped up. Over .250" more belly clearance than the original, and significantly more rigid with the carbon bracing.

The truck has been killing all of my local test lines in testing. A stripped tie rod bolt and funky brush failure cost me a chance at the podium in the BYB/BLC shootout over the weekend, but I'm really happy with how it handled in the comp debut.

I like the horizontal CF plate, seems it would eliminate some chassis spacers too.

The only spacers left are the two in the cab. They can be made lighter and smaller now too, since they aren't doing much work.

The braces are just sandwiched between the chassis rails and a semi-captured nut. I'll grab a better pic tonight

cough pictures?

Did you tweak the geometery on version 2?

And would ya mind sharing some foam setup info? My biggest handicap right now is foams and remembering how soft was too soft for the featherlights.

I didn't have a chance to grab a good picture last night, but here's one I had on my phone.

Ignore the crooked brace. It's a result of rebuilding a truck after hanging out with the BYB all night

You can see that the braces are just sandwiched to the chassis. The whole package is considerably stiffer. Since the shock braces are separate pieces, you can still adjust the shock arms.

It'd be a lot cooler with a SMW sticker on it!

Thanks for the close up of the braces. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how they mounted, very cool concept and must be super rigid!!

No problem. There are a few chassis using a similar concept these days, but I think this is the first to run braces through the entire chassis. It's amazing how much stiffer it is now, even when using just 1/16" side plates. The shock arms are still 1/8", but they could probably be reduced too.

Looks pretty unique...are you using notches in the braces to locate and lock them in before the screws/nuts are tighten down. Would think that would stiffen it up even more and prevent them from sliding up or down.
