Default wheel / tire advice

I am looking for some help / recommendations on wheels and tires for a Chaotic XR 10. Right now I have an older set of VP DH Comps on it. I have always ran aluminum beadlocks but want to make the move to carbon or G10. All the option with the different styles are a little overwhelming.

Also looking for advice on foams. I have read a lot about open and closed cell. I have mostly used Sedona's with the "stock" foam.

I live in NY outside of NYC and looking to run a few comps this fall. Terrain here is granite and bluestone rock that is more smooth then rough.

Thanks in advance.

What is the weight of your rig? That has a bit to do with tire & foam choice.

heavy with the DH COMPS. It is a Chaotic Switch with smashed electronics and the usual VP bits for the axels. Ideally with the right wheels I would like to see it mid 4 pound range.

hope this helps.

My go to response to this question is dlux fab. I've never had one issue with his wheels. Tough as hell and he has a weight system for them.

For max weight drop, their are lots of glue on options, from 8g to 24g..

For weight drop an beadlocks, a couple options.. as David said, Dlux CF beadlocks are tough as hell an look great doin it!

As the DH wheels are Heavy.. even VP slws would be a good weight loss..

For a mid 4lb rig, I ran CI 5.25" foams in my rovers and boss claws. Not sure if its the same with the dona's.. maybe a 5.5" CI setup. Soft front, med rear..

My vote is the DLUX cf beadlocks. Yes i know the trend is glue these days but I like the no hassle of changing things up with the beadlocks. I have had my set of DLUX cf's for over a year now and they have never lost a bead and I only run 3 screws per face and 3 per hub. Also note they have taken some big falls with no issue!!! Tough as nails and if by some chance you break or need a different look peices are available separately!!!
