So I have 13 turn 5 slot motors and micro sidewinders. I plugged in a 2000 maah to cell battery and when I press the throttle I saw smoke coming from the back. It was the wires going to the rear motor . They are cheap 18 gauge stranded wires . The insulation melted and the wires touched. What on earth happened?

Had the same thing happen to me(twice) an another person it happen too.. Common denominater.. sidewinder micro.. Mine was in a 1.9 and nip when installed. It shot the voltage the other way and desoldered the battery wires from the battery, one time. The other one melted the wires off the rx wires and motor wires.. I got a new one from castle an traded it, same thing happen to him.. |

I found out why I destroyed two batteries and melted my wires. Don't build cars the night before a comp... ![]() |

Haha, it happens. I forgot that I re soldered the whole rig last month and haven't driven it since. I kept saying to myself, "It drove fine last time I used it". That's what I get for being too many bowls, beers, and hours deep when building.

OK so I fixed up the wires and blammo it doesn't fry batteries or wires anymore. But the rear motor will only drive in reverse... I've ruled out the receiver, the channel, and the transmitter. So it's down to the motor or the esc. The calibration and arming beeps made through the rear motor are a bit muted. The front motor sounds almost like it's in stereo whereas the rear motor/esc combo sounds as if it were in mono. Before I unsolder the ESC and resolder it to the front motor, any input?

The esc acts the same way on 3 different motors. Q_Q Can I break "forward" on the esc from pumping too many amps through it?

More like, "Putting both ESC output wires on the same brush hood!" This equals, "Dead short". ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
