Default JSLICK's DD WIP

I had a spare set of axles from my rig two seasons ago just sitting around collecting dust. I have always been interested in the DD chassis ever since I saw Yocci run it at Nats. This will be a fun rig to test and tune. I have been lucky having a club member that ran one last season so he was able to help with the shock set up. I still need to get some goodies for it, that is why it is my WIP project for the winter. A while back I won a body from Lattice Innovations and a Paint Job from BC Paints. So why not put it on. Things still needed are the smashed Holmes BRmini, an axle mounted battery tray, some new VOODOOs and most likely a new servo, the hitec that is on it right now has an ear broken off and I have put it through the ringer for the past two seasons.

Looks like it's going to be fun! I liked running Brian's for sure. Good luck with it slick!

Off to a great start. I see you got the Gunnar mount figured out. It looks like it'll work well.

Got some goodies in the mail today, some more knuckle weights for my DLUX knuckles and an axle mounted battery tray on the way. Now to get a new servo and my Holmes brminis.

These are ones I ran sometime ago. They are oldschool CI dual stage soft up front with a firm inners and Med. outers in the rear with firm inners. I will be getting some new VOODOO kicks for this sometime over the winter. I will probally run Golds all the way around. This rig is going to come in on the lighter side, it should be interesting to drive. Like I said this is a back up rig to playaround with. I can't wait to get it on the rocks.

That's exactly what I said about mine, but it quickly turned into my "go to" rig. I'm betting the same thing will happen to you

Only things I see right off are that you'll probably want to add some shims or washers to the upper link mounts to keep from pulling the outer ears in. That will keep it from warping and prolong bearing and gear life.

I'd like to see a pic of it at full twist...looks like you've probably got quite a bit of travel...

Thanks, I'll shim them up and get a picture of the flex when I get home tonight. The rear shocks have more travel than the front. AddictedtoRC1 was nice enough to set up the shocks for me the way he ran them on his rig.

Ok...I think you'll find that you'll want some limiters in there. Of course since you're still running a rear housing in the rear things will be slightly different. Are you running anything inside the shocks...limiters or "suck down" springs?

I'm also partial to Rovers on this rig.

Here's a post where you can see my front and rear shocks pretty well...look at the amount of limiters on it

I'll jump in here. The fronts have a spring above the piston and the rears have a short bit of spring under the piston. Basically the way Yoshi has his set up. I did run external limiters on the rear, I just left them off for Slick as his setup would likely be a little different from what I had. I thought it best to let it up to him to decide how much he wanted to go with.

Been working on a few things and waiting for a few more things to arrive.

Got my new upper link mounts and rings for DE wheels from Calderwood Design & Fabrication all mounted up, I put my Leopards back on for now. I should be getting my new GOLD and SILVER VOODOO in the mail today.

I think Sam at CDF really did a great job with these. I was debating on using a spacer instead of the plastic Axial ball end.

Got home today and found a goodie bag from OTTSIX in the mailbox.

Got them all washed up and set out to dry. I have some building to do tonight. I am going to try something different with these. I like to run the 6in CI foams. For my other XR I ran GOLDS up front and BLUES in the rear. This time around I am going to give the 5.5in med. up front in the GOLDS with a med. tuning ring and in the rears I am going to run the SILVERS with a 5.5 soft outer with a med. tuning ring. The SILVERS are more forgiving than the GOLDS are in foam tuning. I know the tuning ring will make them taller and get me back to the 6in. height, however I expect them to act a bit differently.

Ugh, just checked my rubberized CA and it is all dried out. Have to go pick some up in the morning.

I'm going to have to get a set of those rings if I'm going to try my DE wheels. Thank you for posting your voodoo tuning info. This is the season I run them all year. I need all the help I can get. This rig is looking really good slick. Very nice!!

BC-Brian from Lattice Innovations makes them. The body style is called the Derringer, he is the same vendor that makes the shift hubs I am running. He is a great guy to work with.
