| 2003EDGE's Remedy 3.5!
Ok, little background...I am heavy into the scale side of crawling. I like making my rigs look somewhat realistic and function great! I had never given comp crawling a thought as I just really couldn't get into the "looks" of them. I have been around this site since 2005 and into scalers from the get go really. So it only took me almost 10 years to give them a shot. I am sure that I am going to get some flak from my scaler buds...but hey, I am not getting out of scaling! M_ENERGY gave me a shot to do a little test run with his 2.2P Remedy and I knew from then...I HAD TO HAVE ONE! I have been exchanging texts back and forth with Derrick as well as Bruce on getting one of these rigs built. Up to this point I knew I was going to build a Remedy...just didn't know which axles I was going to run. It seemed like I wouldn't be able run XR axles without building them from scratch or I would be running Bully2 axles. The RCC classifieds section came through big! I found a set of XR axles already built with all the VP goodies! They should be here by the end of the week or early next week! Chassis: B-Machine RC Remedy 3.5 Axles: VP motor cases front and back VP motor plates front and back VP knuckles and C-hubs VP rear lockouts VP upper link mounts front and back Running front axles on both ends 6mm 4140 rear shafts Rowdy battery mount and electronics mount RC4WD custom lightened gears on both ends Electronics: Holmes BR Dual Mini's Holmes Puller 500 Pair Hitec 7950 Castle BEC Futaba 4PLS Suspension: B-Machine Links Upper and Lower D-Lux Machined Big Bores Mini T Springs Wheels and Tires: I am torn here...either a set of modified beadlocks or.... Carbon Fiber Wheels from OFFROADKOREA VOODOO's! CI Foams of course! I am open to suggestions on the build! I have gone through most of the XR section looking at pics and reading the tech articles. This is what I have come up with through the forums as well as Derrick and Bruce's suggestions. |

Looking forward to seeing this built! Definitely got a nice parts list that will back the chassis up! You will want to keep the big bores @ 3.5" for best results (I know a lot of people like to do the rodend mod which puts them at 4").

Do the reverse rod end mod. Thatll keep them the right length.

Unless you already have the bigbores another option that you're probably familiar with are the SCX10 shocks. They already have the correct length and no need to do any cap mods. Just add the springs of choice (MRC silvers, mini-T silvers) and some simple tuning (IE:limiting, oil) and you will have arguably the lightest, best performing, and most reasonably cost shocks on the market for a comp rig. Granted, they do leak unless you want to dish the extra cash for delrin bodies, however they have a threaded body for fine tuning the preload which is something I find totally necessary on a comp shock. The small diameter alone makes for a cleaner look and I wouldnt look back to a 'full-size' shock after making the switch myself. Just an option...not dissing the bigbores because I realize they are leak-proof and a VERY smooth shock...just take a little more work to get lightened and have a good efficient way of mounting. Good luck to you and welcome to the comp side |

I agree with Hildy I would recommend the Rcbro's delrin shock bodies and axial machined pistons. Very smooth and they don't leak....easy preload adjustment as well.

I have looked into the egressor shock bodies. Would probably be lighter as well. I even though about picking up a set for my Class 2 scale rig.
