Yeah, the first step is trying to get it running correctly with a Hacked Flysky GT3B...wish me luck

Re: Joywrex's SecondHand Champ XR10

I'm getting close to getting it going on my gt3b radio but the drag brake isn't very strong at max when I try to dig. Any ideas? It's at max on the fxr's.

I'd like to get the battery onto the front axle...but I have 1300mah batteries. What batteries do you guys use? and what's the best way to get it onto the front axle? Or should I just put it between the front links on the chassis?

CrawlrKing 03-26-2014 06:21 PM

800 or 450 mah are the way to go !

Good looking rig. ;)

It has to be a setting. Search for FXR settings.

I cant not take much credit for the build. I have the parts and put them into the hands of Tom Havel.
He is an amazing builder.

Thanks Dan, I enjoyed building this truck :)

This is a pretty sweet truck though! I would recommend putting some SCX10 shocks on it to lower the ride height, and you should be in business!

Thanks guys. Do you remember what amp the bec is set to?

Are you programming right on the ESC or are you programming with a Hotwire? I believe the only way to get 100% drag brake is with the Hotwire if I remember correctly.

sourdojack 03-29-2014 09:43 PM

I programmed both ESC's with the hotwire. 100% drag brake and the latest firmware version

joywrex 03-29-2014 09:44 PM

Hmm crap. It was probably set up and then I set it to 11 on the esc itself...

Yea i'm kinda trippin on your drag brake issue. One big thing i always dug about xr's over bergs is how much easier it is to get the dig locked axle to lock up purdy good. Think it's due to more gears & tighter tolerances. I'd either pop in a dfrnt motor, or esc, to eliminate one or the other as the problem.

sourdojack 03-30-2014 08:07 PM

I'd be interested to see how holds before getting too crazy on why. It's probably normal... One thing to check though is the radio calibration, the rear axle could be "creeping" at standstill

Re: Joywrex's SecondHand Champ XR10

Here's a little video of it digging. It works...it just doesn't completely lock the rear...This is normal for all i know. I'm used to my shafty, when it digs it locks hard.

XR10 dig issue - YouTube

sourdojack 03-30-2014 10:07 PM

Gotcha. Well either of the Holmes ESC's would fix that issue. They have "Holmes hold" which completely locks the axles if so desired

Re: Joywrex's SecondHand Champ XR10

Well if this is as good as it gets without replacing esc's then I'll call it good.

Re: Joywrex's SecondHand Champ XR10

If you were on carpet which it looks like it was, that's what you're gonna get with Tekins. They are super smooth but their brakes aren't anything near Castles or HH. I wouldn't worry about it much, just drive er!!!"thumbsup""thumbsup"
