this is the original build thread of the chassis...
Jakesy's Secret Agent 3.5

and a youtube video of it crawling by its original owner..
Secret agent 3-5 toohey 19-5-2012 - YouTube

and here's some pics taken before I start to dismantle and rebuild various components of the chassis..

this would be what to look at with regards to the motor...

Jakesy's Secret Agent 3.5

here's it all cleaned up without the rust sitting next to the Rowdy Racing electronics mount... and yep, polished somewhat haha

and the front transmission all cleaned up and ready for re-assembly and re-lube..
it did have a clicking noise but i cant find anything that would cause it as all the gears are ok and bearings are fine as well

a couple shots of the completed front axle with servo mounted..

the servo horn needs to be longer so I can mount the link behind the horn without it wanting to contact the servo/mounts

starting on the rear tonight..

here's some shots of the rear axle and the chassis w/ shocks and links..

look at the rust on the motor.. a quick polish should remove all that and get it semi decent looking like the front one

this one reminds me of a squid.. or maybe a predator.. either way, its cool

rear axle dismantled down to its core pieces, next step is to clean up the axle halves and then get onto the motor..

so I found a broken pin on one of the axles, no dramas its just for the hex and I have plenty..

below is the rear transmission broken apart, cleaned as much as I can ready for a good re-lube and oil in the bearings
you can also see in the background the difference a bit of polish makes to the motors

today i'm going to be playing with the shocks...

items on the agenda will be..
- drill cap mod for only 1 bleed hole @ 1.5mm ** revised plan as tested one and the oil escapes around the bladder no matter how I seal it
- Traxxas 7062 shock rebuild kit for the bladders as the shocks on this rig have none atm
- replace shock oils and re-lube the O-rings using Hudy shock oils and MuchMore Racing Shock Slime

i'll let the pics tell the rest of the story...

I've got my helper holding the shocks to let them settle and any air to escape..

I got distracted, let my coffee go cold and forgot to post the completed shock picture..

I ended up replacing the shock caps with new ones, the Traxxas bladders installed fine with no breather and 1 bleed hole

from the original owners thread he was using 60wt all round (or about 800cst) and lots seem to be running 35wt (around 425cst)

I've decided to go a lower than the original but more than a common weight and have build them with 500cst oils for now

preload has been set at an average of what I found on the rig before I started to rebuild it...

so i'm beginning to dismantle the body and clean that up somewhat...

this is what i'm working on now..

this is a top view so I can see where all the hollow balls and spacers go...

links and base plate removed...

another shot to help my memory when re-assembling the body...

all the body/chassis pieces disassembled...

so I've now re-assembled the main chassis after giving all pieces a quick sand on the outer edges..
those with a sharp eye might also notice I've also coloured the edges I sanded with a black marker to finish it off..

the next steps will be to re-attach the shocks and then move onto the links...
I plan on replacing some of the rod ends if not all of them with a fresh set, just gotta take apart a Slash for the 30mm ends I need

shocks re-attached to chassis...

and a shot of the links so I can remember which ones had what ends on them..
these will soon be pulled apart, cleaned and the rod ends replaced..

and the count of rod ends i'll need.. looks like some are cut down so i'll be measuring them all soon..

its been a long journey so far but a fun one...

here she is back to a roller, latest tasks included replacing all the rod ends and attaching the links to the chassis and axles..

still to come..
- electronics re-wire and re-mount
- couple tweaks to the links and making some of the cone shaped pieces to fit the rod ends
- cleanup of the tyres and CF rims it came with
- paint and attach the body panels (roof and bonnet pieces)
- setup the new 4PK Super-R that I bought to run it which hopefully isn't too much of a task on the new radio

enjoy...

i've worked a fair bit on this in the last week..

- replaced motor wires and re-smashed the dual sidewinder micro escs and castle bec
- mounted all electronics
- setup the Futaba 4PK Super-R radio for dual esc operation
- mocked up several body panel designs, half completed one before deciding I didn't like it and finally settle on one last night

there's some tweaks to do and some batteries to solder up after collecting the from 110 but here she is now...
