Default Robbobs Not reinventing the wheel ........

Hi, remember me? The rookie who bailed before he learned to drive . Well after a couple years and a few things in the real life scene plus some touring car racing I think I wanna try this again. Got to say WOW though, how things have changed. After reading and catching up and seeing whats new, whats not around and a bottle of aspirin for the concussion from so many changes I think its time to play again.

Its gonna be slow ..... full of progress pictures and ramblings but Im gonna make the best attempt at documenting it all. (Again) .... Oh and hitting the 3lb mark. Yes Im still looking for a skinny girl, I just loved how my last two setups ran and well I got pages of notes and a brain still full of ideas. Oh yeah and a new toy .

Well I'll start off with a couple pictures to get things going and hopefully the USPS will do their job this week and deliver the last remaining 10 orders Im waiting on.

With one text and the message saying 'lets get the band back together' I was able to score a pair of built Xr axles. For now Ill show the rear and where Im starting. Its your typical yada yada VP bling but thats all gonna change.

So to start we're looking at stock axles, VP upper mount, lockouts, RC4wd gears and VP gear box.

Thats just not gonna cut it for the skinny girl so went to my gun drilling of the steel.
Before

After

And Ive got a Ti one coming this week to do the same too so pictures to come when I do that one.

And little picture of the new toy

Whats it doing ...... ?

Huh?

We'll see how it works out but I already have a backup of Rowdy Racing on its way. Always liked his mounts and got lucky with some help from Rowdy on getting some coming this way.

Well thats about it for now ..... still a lot to show, make, put together, take back apart, throw in the scrap piles and ofcourse pictures along the way.

Gonna be a fun ride again ......

So a couple small updates - Got more packages in but not enough to start on my own. Got my foams and tires from Crawler Innovations today. I said it before and say it again, top notch ordering from there and he even gave me some bubble gum .

So the bench didnt stay clean for too long

So lets start with some Ti - upper front layshaft

Hmmm ya lets try hollowing that out too
(yes Im willing to try anything once )

So not much more then that done today - told ya should be about April I get back out there. Oh almost forgot, got these little bad boys worked out today too .

Started with this

And came out with this

Little weight comparison
Stock VP

Stock Axial

And a little CF Beauty

Some assembly pictures to go with it .....

Prototypes will be going out this week to a couple people before I throw them up for sale. Pending their approvals or tweaks I should have an idea of when to start talking sales. Judging by their fit and function just on the bench I think things look good but Ill let the testers try them first.

Well thats about it for now ......... just more tapping of my fingers at the USPS and UPS

That CF motor plate is awful sexy. Why not go with stock axial plastic gear case, instead of the aluminum Vanquish, to shave a few more milligrams?

Matched and fits both housings ..... the test rig Im using doesn't have the plastic housings on it.

I have the file drawn to cut either VP bearings or stock small bearings.
