I'm using the xt60 ..but used deans before. I like the black ones from hk...but I've only had my xr for about a week. Maybe some of the vets will chime in

XT60 connector is much better than Deans.

If you go Deans there are much better clones these days including the T-plugs from HobbyKing and the Star plugs from Hobbico.

+1 for XT60. They're the best IMO. I can't stand Deans connectors and everybody calls me crazy which is fine with me.

I have EC2 for comp crawler, XT60 for wraith and others in 1/10 scale, and XT90 for my unlimited class FOFF rig (basically 1/8 truggy..) Might have gone with XT30 for comp rig if they had been availabble when I changed away from deans..

I'm running XT 60 on everything after switching from deans. Holy hell are they nice compared to the old standby!

I'm really kicking around the idea of switching my crawlers over to XT 30 but I run powerful motors on 4s so I'm not sure I'd want the amp drop.

If I didn't have so many vehicles and batts on T-Plugs, I'd go XT60 for heavy draw and XT30 for smaller stuff. I made the mistake of starting with Deans and then buying Chinese Deans clones because of the price. But now I find some of my T-Plugs don't like each other. Sucks.

Yes! I wish more people would give XT60's a try. They'd see how much better they are compared to Deans.

I switched to dean's years ago from lightspeed (anyone remember them? ) and they were superior if only due to size. I switched to XT 60 last year when I started running 4s due to dean's limited amperage rating. 2 of my friends I crawl with switched to XT 60 at the same time when one of them lost a channel on his hitec x4 charger when the dean's plug shorted out on a steel bench.

Deans are small. That's the one and only good thing about them. But the list of cons is so much longer. That small size along with the slick, smooth sides make them damn near impossible to grip when you're out in the trail with cold, wet hands. Some people say pull on the wires and to them I say Soldering round wires onto flat terminals doesn't make sense - not even to a 2 year old learning that round pegs fit in round holes and square pegs fit in square holes. Deans can't handle as much power is the newer connectors. And then there's the fact, like you stated, that there's no protection on the male plug. Deans.

Unfortunately, I still use Deans because most people I trail with use Deans and I don't think anybody uses XT60's. It's nice to have backup in case I ever completely run out of batteries.

Batteries are cheap, carry more and use the superior connector. Who knows the schmuck you run with might see the light.

I run 1300 4s packs and my friends run maximum 850 3s so I crawl for well over half an hour per pack. They are lucky to get 15 minutes yet I show up with 9 charged packs everytime we go out. Preparedness is important.

I just carry a Deans to XT60 adapter in my trail pack for an emergency. But I also usually hit the trail with about 3 days run time worth of packs.
