You should be good with the shorter rod ends up top then

i'll finish building it and adjust the geometry later.!

does anybody know how to get access to the horizontal screw that holds the upper rod mount onto the axle?
need to swap the new VP mount but can't get the HR one off...?

Trucks looking good.

You have to take the gear case off the axle and open it up to get at the single screw holding the top link mount.

Little bit of extra work but well worth it for swapping the link mounts.

Rig looks good, but ditch those connectors on the motors and wire ecc's directly to Motors.

having some issues with clearance...
any pointers..?
back of servo is hitting the motor and cable will interfere with upper rod mount.

I always had 2mm spacers behind my servo on my first moa rig. Now I run the spacers that we sell.

Move the servo mount on the Vp mount over to the left

Move the servo mount on the Vp mount over to the left
the servo mount on the VP mount bolts front to back.
the mount on the axial bracket which i assume is a HR mount bolts downwards.
am i missing something obvious?

fitted the servo with spacers to get clearance from the motor.
will cut some aluminium tubing to fit between the steering links for strength.
servo horn looks vulnerable there but don't see how i can get it higher and further back..?
considering a shorter one but don't know if i will be able to get enough steering.

Rig is looking good. I doubt you will want a shorter servo horn. All the XR10s servo horns stick out, I have had no problems with mine yet. ( knock on wood.) I run spacers also for motor clearance. Tried the servo on flipped left to right (upside down) it worked OK but the linkage tends to lock up at full turn. Def want some knuckle weights to get your balance front to rear. Love th VP top link mount, didn' know they still made them. I have HB on mine. I also run 2 front axles because of the weak design on the rear oneq. You will definately want to do 2 bolt mod if you keep rear housing. Also get rid of 5x8 bearing on the top trans shaft (the one covered up by the link mount.) Its a big point of failure if you keep that bearing imho. Don't think you will need alum cover on steering link it looks OK. If you do go to shorter st horn you may have to get shorter st arm on knuckle to make up for it. I wouldn't recomend it though. Keep at it. It's coming along nicely. Sorry my phone /tablet pics suck.

I run 2 front axles. Ther rear one is just turned around backwards. The rear axle has a weak joint in the front where the 2 halves meet, kinda looks like a hinge. The 2 bolt mod addresses this by putting 2 long bolts through the housing to hold it together. The front and rear axles are basically the same except the top shaft. The front axle shaft is shorter( and harder to find.) The bearing that goes on the small gear end of this shaft should be replaced with a bushing (Traxxas 5x8 bushing) the bushing may need to be changed periodically but won't have catastrophic failure with parts going in to the gears and destroying them as well. I have HR gears and BIG BEARING gearbox. The bearings are much bigger in this gearbox. I really like the XR10 but it is getting harder to find XR10 specific aftermarket parts. There is a good following on here for new and used parts. It's good to be a member here! Good luck with your rig. I will check back here for updates ocasionally to see how things are going for you. I am a total gearhead and am more than willing to try to help with any advice. PM me if you have any questions. Later
