I want to get back to crawlin.

A few years ago I built an XR10 With aftermarket everything and loved it but for some reason sold it. I'm looking at buying a used XR10 and a used Futaba 4PLS is this a good radio for front and rear dig ability and is there still quite a bit of aftermarket support for these rigs. I'll want a different chassis and links. Thanks in advance for any direction you all can point me in.

The aftermarket for the XR10 is great. Don't have any input on the Futaba. I watched e-bay and they do show up ever so often. I lost 2 bids on 1 that I wanted, thank goodness!! I found a new sealed kit and won it. Just finished at Christmas and today was its maiden voyage. I had a hard time getting it like I wanted, but this forum helped a lot! Here's a link to my thread and found a small problem today but I'm sure I'll get it straightened out by spring time! Good lock!

I'll start reading build threads and thanks for your input. I need to know more about your username. I have a white 94 Cobra I bought brand new.

I used a 4PL on my first build and have a line on a barely used 4PLS locally so I would like to snag it. I believe it's just a newer model of what I had.

That's cool. We both bought our Snakes brand new. I show mine about 4 times a year.

The gears are still available from HR as is the big bearing gearbox the price is not bad either. The hardest part for me to find is the rear axles and the top shaft for the front axle. 49 mm long I believe, not the 58 mm long rear one.

About the radio, I don't know much about the Futaba but everybody in our club runs the Airtronics (Sanwa) MT4 it's a real easy setup for dual ESC. The controlls are good also. It has a lever right where your left thumb sits to controll the front/rear dig. It's also proportional so you can set more or less power to one end, not off or on. I run a front axle in the rear because it' a much better design' don't have to do 2 bolt mod and less spare parts to stock. It takes all the same parts as the rear axle. The only mod are to one of the axles. You have to trim one of the tangs where it goes in to the gear. Good luck.

I advise others to stay away from the XR because part support isnt what it used to be. They can be stout but it takes alot to get there and many of those parts are unavailable.

I'd build a berg instead of an xr10.

Re: I want to get back to crawlin.

Either build a bully2 or a berg , xr stuff is to hard to track down now.
As for the radio grab the 4pls it is the new 4pl.

I used Axial, RC4WD and Hot Racing gears. I think you can only get Hot Racing gears now.

I'm running a RC4WD Bully2 front and a Dlux rear axle(berg).

I have a brand new set of Vanquish/RC4WD/FastEddy loaded XR axles sitting in my bins for this very reason. Only assembled (no screws) for pictures. I don't run them just in case I need parts.
