Default Yeti XL or a Wraith XL?????

So with the rear axle of the Yeti as it is. It's only a matter of time before a Wraith XL shows its face. I would want that over a Yeti XL.

Why not simply mod and bolt up the XL rear axels to the front and rear of a wraith, could work.

3D Printer FTW!!!

No seriously, You people realize we don't need axial to do this stuff. Use existing parts or CNC and/or 3D Print new parts. With all these vendors on here, I would like to see a few creative minds come together and build something 100% Custom...Or do it yourself like I said before.

Yah. Now everyone just relies on the skilled and big companies to do things for them. I think that half the fun of building a crawler is obtaining these new skills. I'm not saying that everyone needs to go buy a Makerbot and build a whole car from scratch, although there is a thread on here about that, but I think soldering, taping, using a dremel or cut off wheel, maybe even a CAD program or welding. People need to learn something, it makes the experience a whole lot better.

I'm reworking a revo with a summit 2 speed trans to fit the Axial Yeti XL body. It was a 1/5 scale with the Proline desert rat body. I liked the 5th scale concept for a while but it wasn't for me. I like the new length that I changed it to from 21.5'' down to 18.75''. I like it better and when I get my hands on a yeti body it will be very scale looking. I don't know if the Yeti wheels and tires will fit the 17mm style hubs that the traxxas has but if I can make them fit I will get them also.
I hope this ancwers your question about people building to suit there needs as alot of people do that here.

well said. and i would say there are still plenty of us "builders" on here who make a lot of parts from scratch. i just think the fit and finish of some of these parts has gotten so much better fromt he scratch builders that its hard to tell homebrew from big vender.

Buy the parts if you think it's something you're going to get into. If you can't afford $50 worth of parts, how are you going to afford design and prototyping as well as production runs?

I'm seriously thinking about it Harley, just hadn't seen the bare housing part available as a single piece yet.

For future reference that part number will be AX 31044 for the yeti XL rear housing. Can't find it for sale anywhere at this point.

Also would want to get a set of the knuckles from the IFS front to try to utilize them with some custom chubs in order to make it much simpler. Once all of those parts are available from axial I will for sure give it a shot.

Wes

Google didn't pull them up originally. Just ordered $100 in parts to try to figure this out. I am out of the country next week but will start working on it the following week.

I'm not trying to bust your bubble, but don't you think Axial already has something in the works? By the time you reverse engineer the XL, I bet parts will be available...if not an entirely new truck.

And I'm willing to bet the VP guys are making chips right now.

I realize that, but part of it is the fun in it as well.

I got a Yeti XL last week and broke the front shock tower on the first run. I was on pavement and didn't ram it into anything. The area where the upper control are connects to the shock tower is quite flimsy.

I've ordered two new towers. one for the truck and one for a machinist.
